Fortnite Hotfix v19.40: Avian Ambush Week & Quests for XP

Fortnite hotfix v19.40 introduces a chicken-theme Avian Ambush Week. 

Only a few days remain in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1. The season thus far has brought many concepts and ideas to the table. Some of those include sliding, Victory Crowns, exciting weapons, and of course, a brand new map. To round out Chapter 3 Season 1, Epic Games has been hosting themed weeks, allowing them to focus on unique gameplay elements a la Wild Weeks from Chapter 2 Season 6. 

Week one reintroduced Bows into the game with Bownanza. The second week focused on mobility; Epic increased the Mythic Spider-Man Web Shooters spawn rate and unvaulted Bouncers. Today, the third consecutive themed week has begun, and ESTNN is here to break down everything you need to know about Avian Ambush Week.

What is Avian Ambush Week?

Epic's latest blog post covered what players can expect for the next seven days in Fortnite Battle Royale. Dubbed Avian Ambush, chickens have taken over the Island and eliminated all other signs of wildlife. These reinvigorated chickens are aggressive and will fight back if attacked. You can also use them as a weapon to peck at enemies. Lastly, some chickens will glow and drop loot when eliminated. 

Avian Ambush Week Quests

Epic introduced a new set of chicken-themed Quests like the last two weeks that reward you with XP upon completion.

Here is a complete list of those Quests:

• Throw chickens
• Slide for 30 meters continuously while holding a chicken
• Open a Vault while holding a chicken
• Hunt a Loot Chicken or Crow
• Fly with a chicken for 20 meters in a single flight
• Catch a chicken in different matches
• Bounce on a tire, umbrella or Web Bouncer 3 consecutive times while holding a chicken

Each Quest is worth 8K XP, which could be crucial as Chapter 3 Season 1 nears its end. There's still time to complete the Battle Pass and unlock the Super Skin Styles if you have not done that yet. These weekly Quests are an excellent opportunity to boost your level without overcomplicating the process.

Avian Ambush Week is now live in-game until March 15 at 9 AM ET–at which point another themed week will follow. You can expect more content and Quests at that time. Leaks have not yet revealed the next theme, but it might be related to gold. Epic tends to incentivize players to spend their in-game currency before the season ends because it does not carry over. We'll have to wait and see what else the developers have planned as we rapidly approach the end of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1.
