North American esports organization Shopify Rebellion has officially entered the Halo Championship Series (HCS) with a blend of veteran gamers.
Shopify Rebellion currently sponsors teams in Rocket League, Valorant and StarCraft II—and its latest move brings the organization into competitive Halo Infinite. Their roster consists of three Gears of War legends and a Call of Duty veteran. While unconventional, the four players have competed in one tournament thus far with promising results. Their future looks promising in the HCS.

The organization took to Twitter with its Halo roster reveal. Following their top-16 finish in last week’s HCS Open, Rebellions secured Chance “Maux” Moncivaez, Billy “MentaL” Putnam, Brian “SoLuRs” Valenzuela and Gilbert “Xplosive” Rojo.
MentaL, SoLuRs and Xplosive recently retired from competitive Gears of War—a title they dominated for quite some time earning several victories. All three have undoubtedly secured a spot in the Gears of War hall-of-fame. Now, they turn from a third-person shooter to Halo Infinite, where they hope to find success.
Joining them is retired Call of Duty professional player Maux. A former member of the Florida Mutineers—Maux competed in COD tournaments from 2015 until his release from the Los Angeles Guerillas and subsequent retirement just last year. He brings a veteran presence and experience in a different first-person shooter to the table with three decorated esports competitors.
Halo Infinite is Booming
Shopify Rebellions are merely the latest esports brand to enlist in the Halo Championship Series. Others such as Built By Gamers, XSET and Complexity Gaming joined in the early going, and all three possess formidable rosters. Rebellions hope to see its roster of historical talents find success in a game that’s trending incredibly.
We’ll have to see how Xplosive, MentaL, SoLuRs and Maux fare in a profoundly competitive Halo Infinite field.
