The world’s best Counter-Strike teams will be flying to the Danish capital in March 2024 to participate in the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 Major
Valve had previously declared that the first Counter-Strike 2 Major will take place in 2024, but the Counter-Strike developers did not disclose the venue. Romanian organizers PGL have now confirmed that Copenhagen will host the first Counter-Strike 2 Major from March 17 to March 31. All matches will be held at the Royal Arena, where several BLAST events took place in the past.
The announcement comes in the wake of Counter-Strike 2’s Limited Test edition release last week. Valve will roll out the LT version to selected players before releasing the full version in the summer.

When Is The Next CSGO Major?
The next Major on the CS calendar is in Paris, where 24 teams will fight for the crown from May 8 to May 21. The BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 will be the last of its kind as the subsequent Majors will be played in CS2. Gamers will exhibit their CSGO skills for the last time in Paris before heading to Copenhagen for the CS2 Major.
PGL have already held their last CSGO Major in May 2022. The PGL Major Antwerp had a total purse of $1,000,000 USD, and the prize pool will be even bigger next year in Copenhagen. PGL have pledged $1,250,000 USD in total as prize money for the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024.
PGL CEO Silviu Stroie is hopeful of rewriting the Major viewership records in Copenhagen. If the Copenhagen Major draws the highest viewership in CS Major history, PGL would break their own record of attracting 2.7 million-plus TV audiences during the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 Grand Final between G2 and NAVI.
“One of the greatest games of all time is marching to another chapter, and we couldn't be happier to host probably the most important Major of the franchise in recent years,” a press release signed by Stroie read. “Denmark has a rich esports heritage, and we're excited to bring the world's best Counter-Strike teams to Copenhagen to compete for the game's most prestigious title.”
The PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major will be the third Major organized by PGL. The company had arranged their first Major in Stockholm in 2021 and held the second in Antwerp in the following year. This will be the first Counter-Strike Major ever organized on Danish soil.
