Overwatch 2 D.Va Hero Guide

Find everything you need to know to start playing D.Va in our latest Overwatch 2 Hero Guide.

The Overwatch 2 changes made Blizzard’s latest game feel a lot more interesting than before. Needless to say, every role in the game received something new, and tanks are no exception. In fact, it is safe to say that tanks in Overwatch 2 feel much stronger than those in Overwatch.

While we are on the topic of tanks and their strength, we must include D.Va, one of the most popular and strongest heroes in Overwatch 2. We know that this is one of the most famous heroes in the game, which is why it is time for our Overwatch 2 D.Va guide. The latter will focus on all of the things that make the hero stand out and show you how to play D.Va and make the most of her.

Overview

Before we share some specific things you should know about this Overwatch 2 tank, it is important to highlight everything new. Unlike other tanks that had barriers, D.Va did not have this ability in Overwatch, which means it is not nerfed. This is also why this hero remains the go-to option for many players.

To be fair, D.Va is not among the Overwatch 2 heroes who received many changes. However, there are a couple of new things players should be aware of, such as the extra HP and armor. According to the changelog, D.Va has 50 extra HP and 50 extra armor, meaning that she is even harder to kill.

Aside from the defensive boost, the hero also has a couple of otter buffs, such as the oen to his Boosters Impact damage, which now deals 15 instead of 10. Her micro missiles also have a 7s cooldown, and her ult now costs 12% less than before, meaning more bombs.

That said, this Overwatch 2 D.Va guide also has to include the nerfs. The hero’s Fusion Cannons’ spread is now 3.75 instead of 4. Fortunately, the hero’s primary fire movement speed penalty is down from 50% to 40%. All of those changes make D.Va among the best heroes in the game.

Tip – You need to know when to be aggressive and defensive

One of the most important things about every D.Va player is related to learning how to use the hero properly. Unlike some tanks, D.Va is a hero that can be played aggressively or defensively, depending on the situation. However, knowing what to do in a specific scenario is one of the things that separates the good and bad players.

To make a long story short, D.Va can be a very aggressive tank and push her enemies all the time. However, the only way to take advantage of these characteristics is if you have a pocket healer that will take care of you. Sadly, this is not always the case, especially when playing with random supports, so you need to be careful.

The good thing about D.Va is that she is one of the most mobile tank heroes in the game. Aside from being hard to kill, she can always escape from a problematic situation and bounce back when needed. Her movement speed ability has a low cooldown, allowing D.Va to be “in and out” of a given fight.

Tip – Try to force the enemies to attack you

One of the things we’ve mentioned in this D.Va Overwatch 2 guide is that tanks in OW 2 are much stronger than before. Most of them do more damage and are much harder to kill, and this definitely applies to D.Va. However, players who know what they’re doing take advantage of this and focus on the team’s DPS/Supports instead of firing at tanks.

One of the best things you can do if you decide to learn how to play D.Va is force the enemy team to focus on you. Thanks to your abilities and high HP/Armor, they will need a lot of time to bring you down. This is exactly what you want because this will give your team enough time to do damage and land a kill.

Although forcing the enemies to attack you isn't always easy, you can do it by playing super aggressively. This doesn’t mean you should jump into a fight right away, but doing this will most likely force the enemy team to attack you.

Tip – You are really good at chasing enemies, so definitely use it to your advantage

One of the things that makes D.Va such an amazing hero is the fact that she can chase her enemies. Many people underestimate the damage she deals with, but she is more than capable of bringing down most DPS and Supports. You should always keep this in mind and use it when you decide to pick the hero.

You can focus on many options, but killing heroes like Mercy is often your go-to option. The fact that they can’t hide from you allows you to always be next to them and do damage. Some of them will try to kite you, but they will eventually die, giving your team a huge advantage.

Speaking of chasing, you can actually use your abilities to control the high grounds. Aside from the fact that this will prevent some DPS from attacking you, it will allow you to be more effective. After all, most teams that control the high ground usually win the game.

Tip – Try to make the most out of the ultimate

D.Va’s ultimate is one of the game's most interesting abilities for many reasons. Aside from having a cool effect, it is capable of killing almost any target, including tanks. However, since it takes a few seconds to explode, enemy heroes will do everything they can to dodge it. This is where you have to be innovative and come up with new ideas to make the most of this ability.

Landing a good ultimate isn't always easy, and it usually depends on the map you play on. That said, the buffs in Overwatch 2 allow you to use it more frequently than before, which means once you learn how to use it, you can definitely do a lot of damage.
