Fortnite: FNCS And DreamHack Champion Coop Joins G2 Esports

G2 Esports is back with a new Fortnite free-agent signing!

Popular esports organization G2 Esports has one of the more enigmatic histories in the history of competitive Fortnite. Since 2018, three players have represented G2 in some capacity. Former pro player Jakub “Lothar” Szygulski joined G2 in August 2018 and is no longer on G2's active roster. Dominik “RazZzero0o” Beckmann, too, spent time with G2 Esports from September 2018 and left the organization in August 2019. Undoubtedly G2's most prominent roster member in competitive Fortnite: Battle Royale history is Kevin Batic – better known as Tohaj. Those three players represent the entire G2 Esports' Fortnite roster, until now.

G2 announced the signing of arguably one of the world's best controller players and a recent Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) winner. NA East professional player Coop is the newest member of G2 Esports.

G2 Esports Adds Coop

The Germany-based organization announced this new roster addition earlier today on Twitter. Unlike other recent signings, G2 did not provide a flashy compilation of clips; instead, it got straight down to business. After not signing a new player since December of 2018, G2 has breathed new life into its Fortnite lineup.

If you're unfamiliar with Coop, you should know that he emerged last season as one of the best players in the world. He navigated through the NA East region's muddy waters and came out clean with an FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 3 Championship on the other side. Less than a week after becoming a major Fortnite champion, Coop followed with an NA East DreamHack Online Open victory to close out the month of August. He won $60K USD from those two tournaments alone, and undoubtedly caught the attention of G2 Esports. He joins only Tohaj as the two mainstays on the German esports organization.

Will G2 Esports Sign More Players?

Competitive Fortnite has experienced a recent surge in free-agent signings. Cloud9 notably added former Team Liquid players Chap and Vivid. A new organization – Team New Age – signed an entire Fortnite trio, including Reverse2k, Mero and Deyy. Rumors are also swirling that Team Liquid may look to add more players to its dwindling roster. G2 Esports certainly is not a brand that many people associate with Fortnite. However, the growing list of free agents might pique the interest of this tier one esports organization.
