Dota 2 – Positive and Negative Trends Following 7.34b

Let’s look at some of the positive and negative trends following the Dota 2 patch 7.34.

Most of you are probably not surprised that the 7.34 Dota 2 patch changed a lot of things about the game we like. Even though there aren’t any ground-breaking changes, the many nerfs and buffs have had a massive effect on the meta. In fact, you can check some of the most successful and least successful heroes according to the win rate and see what kinds of picks people go for.

With that said, this article will focus on the positive and negative trends following 7.34 and the things it changed. We’ll look at the heroes who became much more popular than before and see how people use them. Keep in mind that The International 12 qualifiers will start soon, meaning that we’ll be able to see the new meta on the pro scene. Until then, here’s what to expect from PUB games.

Nature’s Prophet pick rate sky-rocketed

Before the 7.34 update, Nature’s Prophet was not a hero that people relied on. He was nowhere to be found on the professional scene and PUB players didn’t like him either because he was just not that good. However, the Dota 2 patch 7.34b changed everything because Nature Prophet suddenly became one of the hottest Dota 2 heroes.

If we look at the stars, we can see that NP’s pick rate increased by more than 7% in the last couple of days. What’s even more impressive is the hero’s win rate, which is up from 43% to 53%! These stats make him one of the best Dota 2 heroes to play with right now.

Despite the fact that the 7.34b patch did not change anything about the hero, the buff to Sprout in 7.34 has put Nature’s Prophet back in the game. In case you have forgotten, the hero’s Sprout now deals 10/20/25/32 damage in a 275 arduous every 0.5s for its duration. This allows Nature’s Prophet to be a lot more effective at ganking, farming, and killing people early on. No wonder a lot of PUB players like using him.

Vengeful Spirit

Even though Which Doctor is the second most successful hero in terms of the latest trends, the changes we’ve highlighted in our overview of the 7.34b Dota 2 patch will definitely have a negative impact on his popularity. That’s why the next name we want to include on the list is Vengeful Spirit.

Interestingly, Venge was in a similar position to Nature’s Prophet before the new meta. The hero wasn’t the go-to option in a while, so we expected to see some changes. Speaking of the devil, 7.34 increased the hero’s base attack speed, buffed her level 10 and 15 talent, and Wave of Terror now also reduces attack damage and armor, making it a lot more effective. As if that was not enough, 7.34b also increased vengeful Spirit’s stun duration from 1/1.2/1.3/1.4 to 1.4/1.5/1.6/1.7s. This means that the hero is way stronger early on, as well as in the mid and late games.

In terms of the stats, Vengeful Spirit has a +2% in pick rate and a +5.4% in win rate, making her one of the best in Dota 2 right now. The hero’s incredibly versatile, and the new buffs to her attack speed could mean that we may see a Venge Carry back in the meta. We just have to wait and see what will happen once the best teams in the world are back in action.

Doom

Doom

Invoker was another interesting hero that received tons of buffs which affected his win rate. However, the nerfs in 7.34b will definitely have an effect on his win rate, which is why we want to talk about another hero – Doom.

One of the most interesting offlaners/carries in Dota 2 received a lot of interesting changes in the most recent update. Even though he continues to be one of the worst heroes in Dota 2, the recent stats show that his dreadful 40% win rate is now up to 45%, which means he’s on the right path. Sadly, the same can’t be said about the pick rate because Doom does not get as much love as others.

Meepo

If we look at the other side of the spectrum, we will see that some heroes are performing much worse than before. Unsurprisingly, Meepo is one of them because the core hero got a lot of nerfs in the most recent patch. All of his base stats were reduced, and some of his talents were also changed, meaning that he became less effective than before.

People clearly do not win as many games with Meepo as before because the hero’s win rates are down by almost 6.5%. Even though Meepo never had a high pick rate because of how hard he is to master, even that is down by 2.6%, meaning that fewer people are interested n using him.

Windranger

The last name we want to talk about when it comes down to positives and negatives trends following 7.34n is Windranger. The latter has always been pretty popular in PUBs, but her win rate is down by 4%. A lot of people will be surprised by these stats because WR did not get that many nerfs. In fact, the hero only suffered from a few minor talent changes.

Aside from the pick rate, Windranger’s win rate is also down by more than 50%, so it’s around 45%. It will be interesting to see of WR will bounce back in the meta because she’s a hero a lot of pro players often decide to try out.
