Dota 2 Crownfall Act One has went live a few days back, and now the dataminers have revealed some exclusive information about the campaign

Dota 2's Crownfall update arrived with a bang, but the first act has sparked mixed reactions. Fans excited for a gameplay overhaul found themselves with a treasure trove of new cosmetics instead. While the visual treats are a hit for some, many crave a deeper impact on the core Dota 2 experience. Will future Crownfall acts address these concerns? While Valve remains tight-lipped, we turned to dataminers to know more about the future of Crownfall. As of this moment, they don’t have a clear blueprint of the campaign as well, but they were able to shed light on some interesting findings.

Dota 2's Crownfall event launched on April 18th, offering a twist on the traditional Battle Pass. This multi-act adventure unfolds like a mini-game, with four chapters in total. While Valve initially only disclosed the first act's timeframe, dataminers from the DOTA_DM Telegram channel dug out the release dates for all remaining acts. Here they are:

  • Act I, The markets of Midgate: April 16 – May 14
  • Act II, The Deserts of Druud: May 14 – June 11
  • Act III, The Frosts of Icewrack: June 11 – July 9
  • Act IV, The Spires of Skywrath: July 9 – August 6

No need to rush! You can take your time completing challenges in each Crownfall Act. All acts will remain playable even after their initial deadlines, all the way through to the event's finale.

The Markets of Midgate, the first Dota 2 Crownfall act, picks up where the Ascension Day comic left off. You can explore the bustling city streets and reap rewards along the way. More content can be unlocked with the Midgate Pathfinder Pack for just $15.

Sweet rewards await in Dota 2's Crownfall event! The Candy Shop, reminiscent of Diretide's Candyworks, makes a comeback. Here, players can trade their hard-earned Candies for random item sets, with a tiny sliver of a chance to snag a coveted Arcana. Dataminers from the DOTA_DM Telegram channel have even revealed a complete list of 13 potential Arcana rewards! They reportedly are:

  • Demon Eater (Shadow Fiend)
  • Blades of Voth Domosh (Legion Commander)
  • Feast of Abscession Bundle (Pudge)
  • Tempest Helm of the Thundergod (Zeus)
  • Swine of the Sunken Galley Bundle (Techies)
  • Fiery Soul of the Slayer (Lina)
  • Fractal Horns of Inner Abysm (Terrorblade)
  • Frost Avalanche Bundle (Crystal Maiden)
  • Flockheart's Gamble Bundle (Ogre Mage)
  • Manifold Paradox Bundle (Phantom Assassin)
  • The Magus Cypher Bundle (Rubick)

How Many Rolls Does it Take for a Dota 2 Crownfall Arcana?

Dota 2 dataminers have unveiled the odds for goodies in the Crownfall Candyworks Caravan! Scoring a coveted Arcana is a rare feat, with a mere 0.315% chance per roll, as per Stepan’s Dota on Telegram. Here are the reported Candyworks Caravan items drop chance and cost:

  • Hero Set (4 candies) — 63.1%
  • Wards (5 candies) — 12.62%
  • Courier (5 candies) — 9.46%
  • Old Treasure (8 candies) — 6.31%
  • Announcer (9 candies) — 4.73%
  • Treasure with Immortal items (12 candies) — 3.15%
  • Event Coins (14 candies) — 0.315%
  • Arcana (16 candies) — 0.315%

While victory is sweet in Dota 2, the Crownfall Candy Shop presents a true test of dedication for Arcana hunters. With a mere 0.315% chance per reroll and a shop limited to 2 items, dataminers estimate it takes an average of 160 wins to secure your coveted prize.

However, there's a silver lining! The event's multi-month duration allows for this grind. Since you can only accumulate 10 rerolls per week, reaching 160 wins translates to roughly 4 months of dedicated play.  For such a rare item, that timeframe becomes more manageable.

The Crownfall Candyworks Caravan holds a hidden upgrade option. While details remain under wraps, speculation swirls around its potential use. Could it unlock additional shop slots, or perhaps introduce new features to the mini-game entirely? We will have to wait to find out for sure. Stay tuned for further information as it emerges!

The Crownfall Craze is Real! Dota 2 Reach Highest Players Since TI11

The Dota 2 Crownfall update has sparked a resurgence in player interest, leading to a significant boost in concurrent user numbers. According to Steamdb, the game's peak online player count has reached its highest level since The International 11 (TI11), with a staggering 874,000 users.

Since the launch of Act I on 18th April, the daily peak player base has consistently hovered around 870,000. A similar spike occurred in August 2023 following the release of the anniversary treasure, but this proved short-lived, lasting just a single day. As the chart below illustrates, the average player base has only seen a marginal increase.

Crownfall is designed to keep players engaged over a four-act narrative spanning until 6th August, has the potential to be the most significant update in recent memory. While some dedicated players have already completed Act I, the casual player base is likely to progress at a more leisurely pace. The next act is scheduled to launch in mid-May.

The Old One
When he's not sighing at sub-standard teammates in Dota 2 and CS2, The Old One is writing about those two games (among other things). If you see his name around the site too many times for your liking, well, the guy just never stops writing. Yes, we've tried an intervention.
