Skull and Bones is a game where ship combat and exploration are the focal points of the entire experience. However, that doesn't mean you don't need some Skull and Bones tips and tricks that you can consult, especially when you're at the beginning of your adventure and are likely to be confused about what to do. In this article, therefore, we will try to give you some advice that will allow you to make the first hours of the game easier, during which you will be busy understanding how the various game mechanics work.
Skull and Bones Tips and Tricks to Make Your Life Easier
Fighting the threats that infest the seas of Skull and Bones with your ship is certainly a fun thing to do, but there are some things you need to keep in mind if you don't want to become prey rather than predators. Above all, as you continue your adventure, there will be increasingly powerful threats waiting for you, since you will also have the chance to encounter sea creatures. For this reason, we have decided to come up with some tips that you should follow to make your life easier in Skull and Bones.
Exploration and Resources
As in any self-respecting open-world game, exploration is one of the most important things to pay attention to. In Skull and Bones, unfortunately, you will not have the opportunity to explore all the land that is present on the game map, but only the destinations that have been decided by the developers. These are places where there are human settlements, where you can meet blacksmiths, merchants, and so on. However, the same thing does not apply to the sea.
In fact, in Skull and Bones, you will have the opportunity to explore far and wide the seas that make up the game map and be able to reveal the secrets that are hidden. This is a very important thing because it allows you to collect resources along your path. In the game, in fact, when you need to collect resources to upgrade your ship, your equipment or to build new weapons, all you have to do is set sail with your ship and go to the place where that particular resource is present.
Fortunately, from this point of view, the game helps you. In fact, on the map, you will be able to see exactly where the type of resource you are looking for will be located. This is certainly a more than welcome thing, since the game map is vast, so you would have wasted a lot of time if there hadn't been such indications. To collect the resources themselves, all you have to do is get close to the icon on the map and, without even getting off the ship, you will start a sort of small mini-game in which you have to press the button at the right time, i.e., when the cursor is in the green line.
Upgrade Your Ship (and Unlock New Ones)
Now that you have started exploring and have collected a lot of resources (you will have to do this to complete some missions, so we recommend that you stop every time you see a resource icon nearby, in order to always move forward paying attention to inventory space), you can start upgrading your ship. Upgrading your ship is definitely one of the main things to do in the game. Of course, you won't be able to continue playing using the first ship you get, as you won't survive for long.
In addition to upgrading your ship, as you continue your adventure in Skull and Bones, you will also have the opportunity to unlock new ships. In Skull and Bones, ships are divided into different categories, from Extra Small to Medium, and each ship has its own characteristics. Some of them, as far as those in the same category are concerned, are equivalent, so it's up to you to decide whether to push more on attack or defense, for example. In any case, having access to new ships is one of the fundamental things to be able to continue in the game.
Use the Right Weapons
We consider that you have chosen the ship that is right for you and that you have also upgraded it. But what kind of pirate ship would it be if it didn't have weapons? The seas of Skull and Bones are full of dangers, so being prepared is important to avoid falling victim to enemy attacks. For this reason, it is important that you take the time to unlock the best weapons you can use on your ships. Remember that in Skull and Bones, there is no type of combat when you are on land; everything takes place offshore.
Depending on the type of approach you want to use—more offensive or more defensive, long-range or short-range—there are certain weapons you can use rather than others. In any case, our advice is to try to experiment a bit before definitively deciding which weapons you want to continue your adventure with. There are many, so you will have to find the ones that best suit your style of playing. Once this is done, you will be ready to face the threats that lurk in the seas of Skull and Bones.
Do Side Activities
In addition to the main missions, you will also have the opportunity to do secondary activities related to the exploration of the game world. We advise you to take part in this too, in order not only to earn valuable resources, which, as you have seen, are indispensable in the game, but you will also have the possibility of increasing your infamy. In Skull and Bones, in fact, you will start from the base of the pyramid and you will have to try to climb to the top to become someone in the pirate world.
Increasing your infamy level is not only important in order to become a legend of the seas but also in order to unlock the ability to create certain weapons and pieces of equipment. Consequently, if you are aiming to have increasingly powerful ships and equipment, you cannot help but increase your level of infamy. Complete everything available on the map and you will have no problem unlocking everything you want.
Play With Other Players
Last but not least, we recommend playing Skull and Bones with other players. It doesn't matter if they are your friends or complete strangers; Skull and Bones will be much more fun if played in company. Obviously, this will adjust the power of the enemies but, in reality, it is easier to take part in missions and exploration in the company of other players, especially when things get serious.
Obviously, the game can also be played single-player, but there will be missions to do that will put your skills to the test and having external support from other players will certainly be the key to success. Furthermore, if you are a pirate looking for a bit of thrill, you could decide to hunt the sea creatures present in the game and this, trust me, is an activity that you absolutely cannot do alone.
