The final Valorant tournament of the North America Ignition Series, Pop Flash, begins on Wednesday, Aug. 26th with four matches spread throughout the day.
Over the last four months, Valorant has grown both in its casual and competitive scenes. Among the hundreds of tournaments that have popped up, the Ignition Series tournaments are the true make or break events for prospective players. In the early days of competitive Valorant, makeshift rosters filled the tournament brackets only to give way to organized teams. Pop Flash, hosted by B-site and Flashpoint, will be the final Ignition Series tournament of the year and invited eight of North America’s top teams to compete for $50,000.

The Matches on Day 1
Day 1 starts on Aug. 26 at 9:00 AM PDT with TSM facing off against the newly formed Dignitas. Three of Dignitas’ players were formerly on team Homeless, a ragtag group of top tier fraggers that upset more than a few tournament brackets. Up next, at 12:30 PM PDT, is Gen.G vs. Cloud9. This match will come down to who can pop off more, Danny “Huynh” Huynh or Tyson “TenZ” Ngo. If one falls, it is up to their teams to pick up the slack and pull off clutch saves. Gen.G has tighter coordination and can perform well even if Huynh isn’t popping off with the Operator.
Going into the second half of the day, the Sentinels will be taking on Envy at 3:30 PM PDT. Envy’s Valorant squad has had less playtime than most of the teams in the tournament, and the Sentinels have proven to be a mighty foe for even the top-seeded NA teams. Rounding off day one’s matches will be Immortals vs. T1 at 7:00 PM PDT, a series that will set the stage for the Immortals going into the weekend. The Immortals have a track record of absolutely dominating, but on their off days, most teams could topple them with fair ease.
The tournament is broken up into two groups, Group A and Group B. Group A consists of TSM, Dignitas, Gen.G, and Cloud9, with Group B hosting Sentinels, Immortals, T1, and Envy. Only the top two teams from each group will move on to the Playoffs bracket which will be double elimination.
