Best Party Setups for Granblue Fantasy: Relink
There are numerous aspects that one must consider while attempting to make the best party in Granblue Fantasy: Relink. Factors like the character’s elements and skills come into play. Therefore, it is important to ensure that every character balances out each other and covers their weaknesses.
As you unlock more characters in your playthrough, you can swap out similar characters to see if they are more effective for the playstyle you are going for. The point is, that experimenting is a good thing, and adjusting your squad from time to time will improve their output. Just make sure you don’t do it too often as it may end up confusing you about what your target was.
Best Party for Main Content
This party is sorted in case you are looking to explore the main campaign of the game. A squad can only fit four characters at once, so if you feel like one of them isn’t working out for you feel free to swap around and find a substitute better suited for what you need. You may even need to swap out characters like The Captain for late-game stages based on the enemy you are facing.
These characters are picked mainly based on their strength and ability to play in long gruesome fights.
The Captain (Djeeta/Gran)
Element: Wind
The Captain is best known as an all-rounder and can be useful across every position in a fight. He has both offensive and defensive skills, and even a revive ability later in the game. Even his wind element is quite strong against most enemies in the game. Considering that there are only two characters currently in the game, The Captain is a great DPS for your squad that will be effective till the very end.
Katalina
Element: Water
Katalina is another character that is very effective in both defensive and offensive roles. Her water attacks cause massive damage to enemies who are weak to her element. Because of the Ares mechanic, she can use her skills on multiple levels, which allows you to attack by adjusting the strength of her skills. Her offensive capabilities are quite strong too especially with her healing spell and invincibility, allowing her to be an effective Tank.
Cagliostro
Element: Earth
Cagliostro is considered to be the best Earth element character in the game currently. Her attacks allow her to chain massive combos very easily. She also has charged attacks that can almost one-shot most enemies. Her AoE attacks and healing abilities are also much better. Compared to the other Earth characters, her damage output is considered the highest. Therefore, it is advised to unlock Cagliostro as soon as possible instead of Siegfried.
Io
Element: Light
Io is a mage who can very powerful range attack spells. She has a wide range of spells can that do damage on multiple levels. Her charged attacks are also very useful in long-range engagements. Her skills include the ability to paralyze enemies, apply burn damage, and even help in healing her squad members. These go well with her combat spells, making her a must-pick as a Healer and Ranged DPS.
Best Characters to Recruit Early
Most of the powerful characters in the game do not show up early on. That means before you can start working on your super squad, you’re going to need a temporary team that can get the job done and lead you to the path of unlocking the characters of your choice. These characters aren’t the strongest or most effective, but based on the stage you are in and the enemies you are facing, they can get the job done.
- Ferry (Light)
- Lancelot (Water)
- Zeta (Fire)
- Narmaya (Dark)
These characters will allow you to work your way up to the big leagues and get the stronger ones like Io and Cagliostro later in the game. With all the bases covered, they sound to be able to defeat just about every boss, be it less effectively compared to the ones mentioned before. So until you can get your hands on them, these guys should work just fine.
