Giants Gaming Beat KOI to Qualify for Valorant Champions 2023

Giants Gaming secure Valorant Champions 2023 Spot

The LCQ (Last Chance Qualifier) events are currently ongoing across all three VCT regions, and it is from EMEA that we got our first team to qualify for the 2023 Valorant Champions. Thanks to FNATIC winning the Masters Tokyo, the region of EMEA is granted an extra slot at the highly anticipated Champions 2023.

Hence, a lot was at stake as Giants Gaming went up against the rejuvenated Spanish organization KOI in the upper bracket finals of EMEA LCQ. While many predicted a closely contested affair, the Giants dominated KOI to secure a 2-0 victory and qualified for the biggest Valorant event of the year.

The first map was exactly what everyone expected to watch. Giants Gaming and KOI treated the fans with an exceptional display of Valorant, fighting tooth-and-nail from the beginning until the very end of the Haven map. Despite Nukkye and his team's valiant efforts to push the map into overtime and save four map points, they ultimately succumbed with a final score of 14-12.

The second map, Pearl, presented a contrasting experience to the first one. While the first half of the Pearl showed signs of yet another banger game, the Giants’ defense side proved too solid for KOI to deal with. Giants closed out the map 13-5 without losing a single round on their defense side, and with that became the first team to secure Champions slot from EMEA LCQ.

What is next for Giants Gaming in EMEA LCQ?

Giants Gaming advance to the grand finals and now await their opponent from the lower bracket. In the final showdown, they will be facing the winner of the lower finals for better seeding at Champions later this year.
