With August finally upon us, here's what Valve had to say about the current TI situation.
August is usually the month that every Dota 2 fan is waiting for. This is when the best teams in the world come together to play for a prize pool that can change the life of those that win.
However, this year is a little bit different. Due to COVID-19, Valve had to make a tough decision to postpone The International 10, as well as the entire DPC. As a result, for the first time in years, we won’t be able to watch the biggest esports event in the world in August.
Valve made the statement regarding TI 10 around four months ago. Since then, every single tournament is online but it still brings together the best teams in the world, so it’s pretty fun to watch. However, we all miss the different interaction, interviews, as well as the fans who wen to the stadiums to support their favorite teams.
Sadly, after the recent statement, we still don’t know when TI 10 be held.
Valve didn’t say anything special
In following how the pandemic has been developing globally, the recent increase in the unpredictability of COVID-19 means we can’t yet commit to new dates for TI10 and the DPC. We share your eagerness in returning to these events, and will announce updates as soon as we can.

Although there were a lot of expectations, Valve didn’t really say anything about the future of this amazing event. According to them, the reports show that the pandemic has been developing globally and it’s very unpredictable. As a result, they are still reluctant to announce new dates for this TI 10 and the new DPC.
This means that we will still have to wait until we know what’s going to happen. Initially, the new DPC had to start on October 5. In case you forgot, the new DPC will feature a lot of drastic changes, such as Regional Leagues, big LAN events, and more.
Sadly, we will have to wait until these changes take place because there will be a TI before that. Right now, the prize pool of this event is slowly approaching $35M USD, which is just mind-blowing. Don’t forget that we are still yet to see the third Arcana, which will inevitably have a huge effect on the prize pool.
