Here's everything you need to know about BLAST's first ever Dota 2 tournament.
Dota 2 is a game where you can find all sorts of events. Some of them are organized by Valve themselves, whereas others are hosted by third-party companies. One of those companies that will make its debut today is BLAST.
Their first ever Dota 2 event is called BLAST Bounty Hunt, and it will be really similar to Midas Mode. In other words, we will watch quality Dota 2 content mixed with some exciting and fun aspects.
Last week, we watched the CS: GO version of the event, which was pretty cool. Now, here are some of the main aspects that you need to be aware of.

One of the most interesting aspects of this event is the prize pool. Generally speaking, BLAST Bounty Hunt has a prize pool of $145K USD. However, instead of being split like a traditional prize pool, here, each team will have its own starting prize pool. As you can imagine, this prize pool can go up or down, depending on the teams’ performance. Each loss can bring down the prize pool as much as 40%.
If you remember a few days ago, we reported that OG and Team Secret will get better seeding at this event. This means that they will start at $20k USD, which is 5K USD more than the rest.
The Bounties
As the name of the event suggests, there will be all kinds of bounties that teams will try to comply with. This is really similar to what we saw in Midas Mode, which is not a bad thing because the fans loved it.
Here, the fans will be the ones who will determine what kind of challenges will the teams have to complete. There are three different available categories:
- Archon – all challenges here will reward teams with $5K USD
- Ancient – every single challenge is $15K USD
- Immortal – here, each bounty costs $20k USD
However, the thing that’s really important here is related to the prizes from these bounties. Instead of going to the overall prize pool, the cash from these challenges will be given to the teams, which will ensure that they will have some cash, even if they lose all of their series. This is a really interesting approach which we have to see whether it will work accordingly.
Prizes for the viewers
Last, but definitely not least, one of the lucky viewers at home will win an awesome prize of $5K USD. This will make everyone feel more engaged into this event, even though it will be online.
Every single day, fans will have the option of doing all kinds of predictions. In order to be among those, you have to create an account on BLAST’s website. Once you do that, you will have to choose a player that you think will perform well. On top of that, you also have to pick four achievements (there are nine in total).
If that’s not enough, each fan can win up to $1500 if he has the most points. To do that, you need to start participating in this event as soon as possible and do your predictions. However, even if you fail to win the big prize, you can still get up to $250 USD per day if you become the player with the highest daily score.
Here are the teams taking part in this pretty cool event:
- Team Secret
- Team Nigma
- Alliance
- OG
- Team Liquid
- Ninjas in Pyjamas
