The Japanese Pacific LCQ contender ZETA DIVISION have won the Grand Final match, securing their ticket to Champions 2023
ZETA DIVISION, Japan’s strongest VCT contender, have won the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) event of the Pacific region, allowing them a spot in the upcoming Champions 2023 in Los Angeles, California. As a result, this year will be ZETA’s second appearance in a Champions event, as they had previously attended one in 2022.

ZETA DIVISION Outplays Secret
Team Secret, the Filipino Dark Horse, were the final contender on the way to ZETA’s ticket to Champions, an opponent they have already faced at this event, defeating them 2-0 in the Upper Final. Team Secret made it out of the Lower Final with a 3-1 win against Gen.G, and securing another Bo5 was their opportunity that got crushed by the Japanese roster.

The series started on Fracture, a map that Team Secret had barely played in their recent matches, and it ended in a very close score of 14-12 in ZETA’s favor, with Shota “SugarZ3ro” Watanabe leading the charge of victory with 23-16 K-D and 254 ACS on Brimstone.

ZETA’s loss on Ascent was an expected outcome, given Team Secret’s recent 100% win rate on the map.

Split was another map where Team Secret found themselves to be weak in previous encounters, and ZETA took full advantage of that, with Yuma “Dep” Hashimoto’s 261 ACS and 19-11 K-D performance, securing a convincing 13-7 victory.

Lotus, a map where these teams were supposed to be evenly matched, given their win records in previous matches, was another one-sided affair favoring the Japanese. Koji “Laz” Ushida owned the server on this map with his Chamber pick, securing 22-8 K-D and 292 ACS and taking his team to a 13-6 victory.
