Venture and Space Ranger to Arrive in Overwatch 2 in 2024, New Maps, Modes & More

Venture and Space Ranger will arrive in Overwatch 2 in 2024. Let’s learn more details about these heroes.

In case you have missed out on the news, our Overwatch 2 Mauga Guide includes everything new about the 39th Overwatch 2 hero. Even though a lot of people were impressed by him, BlizzCon 2023 gave us access to even more news about our favorite game. According to it, we will have a total of three new Overwatch 2 heroes in 2024, and we already know some details about two of them.

Three new Overwatch 2 Heroes

According to Aaron Keller, who was on the Overwatch 2 stage, we will have a total of 3 new heroes in 2024. We did not expect to learn any information about them, but the panel decided to give us more information. According to them, Venture and Space Ranger will be the new Overwatch 2 heroes for 2024, and there will be a third one that we do not know much about.

By the looks of it, Venture will be Overwatch 2’s new DPS hero, whereas Space Ranger will be the support. The latter should arrive later in Season 12, whereas the newest DPS Overwatch 2 hero should be here for Season 10. The only drawback is that we do not have any information about the third new hero and what we can expect from him. However, considering we are getting support and a DPS, we wouldn’t be surprised if the third new hero is a tank (the Panel said so, but you never know).

Venture was described as an archeologist from Canada, and she has interesting abilities like drilling and doing explosive damage. What we’ve learned is that the Venture Overwatch 2 hero is invulnerable while underground. Besides the damage, this ability also provides a lot of mobility, but we do not know anything about it yet, so we will have to wait until the hero becomes available.

In terms of the Space Ranger Overwatch 2 hero, she is from the Mars colony, which is new for the game. We do not know much about her yet other than the concept artwork. In other words, we will need to wait to see what she will give us access to.

We expect to have a lot more information about the newest Overwatch 2 heroes in the future. However, considering that they will become available later, it is best to focus on Mauga. In fact, we have already debunked some of the Myths about the hero, so definitely check our article before you start playing. Even though there could be a lot of changes, we expect that the hero will remain relatively the same when he becomes available. Blizzard allowed OW2 fans to use him, but he was only available for a day.

The Third New Overwatch 2 hero

Aside from Venture and Space Ranger, the Overwatch 2 Panel at BlizzCon also revealed that there will be a third new hero. As mentioned, we do not know much information about him yet other than the fact that he will be available in Season 14 and he will be a tank.

New Overwatch 2 Game Mode

After the three new heroes (4 if we count Mauga), the Panel also announced the new game mode called Clash. The latter will be very interesting because it will have a total of 5 capture points, where only one will be active. The match will begin with one capture point in the center, and players will be able to capture it by standing next to it and if there is no one on the enemy team to contest it.

Each of the two teams will have 2 points, meaning that they need to capture the one in the middle. Once a team captures this point, it needs to push the other one. The idea is to capture all 5 points, but we expert there will be some changes once the mode becomes available. In fact, we think it may be similar to the Push maps available right now.

Hero Master Gauntlet

Another new thing about the game besides the Venture and Space Ranger Overwatch 2 is the hero mastery Gauntlet. This will be a special PvE mode that seems like a Tower Defence. The enemies will be training mods and will offer different kinds of abilities. Your goal will be to defend the towers against the enemies and to do that, you will have access to different abilities.

What we do now is that the Hero Master Gauntlet will become in 2024 and it will have its own leaderboard. Sadly, the devs did not share much else about it, so we will have to wait and see what we’ll get.

Overwatch 2 Competitive Updates

Overwatch 2 Competitive Update

After sharing more info about the newest heroes and modes, we also learned about the Ovewatch2 competitive updates. The people behind the game talked about a lot of things, such as the fact that your rank will update after every match. Also, there will be a new rank progression system that will provide more information about what is happening.

Additionally, Overwatch 2 will have a new rank called Ultimate, which will be above the Grand Master. On top of that, we also expect a new type of Emerald weapons, which should be even more rare than the golden ones.

According to BlizzCon, the new Overwatch 2 competitive update will arrive in S9, and there will also be a reset.

Other changes

Alongside everything mentioned so far, we’ve also learned that Overwatch 2’s future Battle Passes may allow us to unlock some of the mythical skins from the past. Also, there will be special kind of Battlepass themes, such as one related to Ancient Egypt.

There were also news regarding the PvE system and the fact that we will have new kind of events. The team did not go in-depth about it, so we will have to wait and see what’s going to happen.

Lastly, Overwatch 2 will also give us access to a new map called Peru. We only saw a few images about it, but by the looks of it, it will be interesting.
