Overwatch 2 Best Crosshair Settings for Each Hero

Optimize your gameplay with the Overwatch 2 Best Crosshair settings for each hero.

With its massive surge in popularity, Overwatch 2 has been enjoying a new wave of fresh players looking to get into what the game offers. Albeit far from being perfect at its current form, Blizzard's futuristic shooter still retains much of what made it an original and refreshing take on modern shooters back in 2016.

A lot of the focus so far has been on the multiplayer aspect rather than its highly-anticipated story mode. But as we wait and let the devs cook, let's take a look at the setting that a lot of rank climbers tend to overlook: their crosshairs.

Compensating for bullet spread. Spray patterns. Headshots. Everything relates to where you point your weapon. How you aim in a team-based first-person game can obviously affect gameplay performance. Knowing that, you should only be looking at the most optimized settings to aid your K/D/A score and ultimately become the best player you can be.

Like every popular shooter, Overwatch 2's increasingly competitive scene can be a challenge for newcomers to get into. Trust us; you're going to need all the help you can get. So in line with this challenge, we looked up all the up-to-date reticle settings from the best of the best, and compiled them all into this nifty lil' guide.

Remember that these settings can only help you get to where you want to be. That is to say, they won't guarantee Diamond rank after a few days of play. With that in mind, a bit of experimentation can go a long way. Look for the settings that work the best for you while using these pro esports crosshairs as a reliable reference point.

With the World Cup Trials right around the corner, challengers from all over the globe are just waiting for committee selections. If you've got what it takes to represent your country, check out the guidelines here.

How to Change Crosshair in Overwatch 2

Head on over to your settings. Under “Control” > “General, you can scroll down to find the “Reticle” section. Opening the “Type” dropdown menu shows you more crosshair templates which you can tweak to your liking using the Advanced settings. Choosing another Reticle Type opens a picture on the left side. Click “Advanced” to show more options.

Overwatch 2 Settings Guide to Change your Crosshair Reticle

So what do some of these fancy buttons and dials do?

  • Show Accuracy – makes your crosshair shake to show how much recoil you're getting
  • Thickness – determines how wide the lines on your reticle are
  • Crosshair length – stretches the lines on your reticle
  • Center gap – the space in the center
  • Outline opacity – makes the edges of your reticle more noticeable
  • Scale with resolution – get a crosshair that adapts to your display settings

First up, we have Cpt. Amari. Being a long-ranged sniper support means doing most of the work from afar. Accuracy is king when it comes to any sniper role, so we found that they “Dot” crosshair worked best.

With only a dot on the screen, you train your eyes to focus on single targets, while also making you aware of where your projectile goes because there's a lot less on the screen. This becomes a huge advantage when you inevitably become the target of fast-moving dive heroes like Winston and Genji. May your sleep darts strike true!

Ashe

Our second hero also makes use of the ever-reliable dot preset. Ashe's primary fire is a single shot which changes to a concentrated shot when you aim down sights (ADS). Her rifle packs a bigger punch when she's scoped in, so this works out just great, especially when you're trying to set off your dynamite pack mid-air with all your southern flair.

Baptiste

Baptiste's burst-fire has unique recoil that bumps your crosshair upwards. To gauge where your bullets land, your reticle needs to be solid. The standard “cross and dot” gives a tight avenue for control, for new and experienced Baptiste players alike.

The small center gap also aids you in tracking the trajectory of your alt-click projectiles, improving your healing per second, albeit slightly.

As most Overwatch fans already know, Bastion's turret form can absolutely melt a combatant's HP if they're caught without a shield. The bullseye reticle can help you visualize and control the spread of your machine gun fire when you rain righteous fire on your enemies.

Looking at the current state in Overwatch's competitive mode, more and more pros are picking the gentle Omnic to bag situational wins (that is, he's a good counter to Roadhog). With the meta set to shift after recent changes, new ways to utilize Bastion's tank-shredding capabilities are bound to pop up.

Brigitte

The gold reticle can appear inelegant, but you'll need it when you get into a scrap with Brigitte. Odds are you'll be swinging your camera as much as you'll be swinging her mechanized flail. To help focus on who you're targeting, especially when you throw out your Whip Shot, keep the long cross reticle in mind.

Cassidy

A small reticle made for precise gunplay, Carpe's Cassidy crosshair has helped him get legendary plays and multikills that have helped Philadelphia Fusion stay among the top teams in Overwatch League.

Cassidy's 6-bullet hand cannon can eliminate a flying opponent from across a zone with deadly accuracy. It makes sense to give such a formidable hero a crosshair to complement the playstyle. Cass also becomes deadly when he fans the hammer in close range.

This particular crosshair size definitely isn't for everyone, but if you wish to mirror a pro player's strategy, go with Carpe's.

D.VA

Overwatch 2 Crosshair Guide

  • Dot Opacity: 100%
  • Scale with Resolution: On

Opposite to the Dot reticle is the spreadshot crosshair. This works well with heroes whose primary fire sprays outward, and still provides a measure of accuracy.

Both of these factors are perfect for a tank like D.Va. Better sights means your mini-rockets can hit their mark more easily. On top of that, your Fusion Cannons' spray can be more directed towards enemy heads, which is what you generally want to hit.

Doomfist

  • Dot Opacity: 100%
  • Scale with Resolution: On

Doomfist's mobile playstyle means that he frequently finds himself behind enemy lines. While he does largely rely on his main abilities, his Hand Cannon is best used to finish off low-health targets. Among the best Doomfist tips, that stands out as an important play strat.

With this, we find another good use for the Spreadshot reticle. This will help you gauge each shot's bullet spread and the green color contrasts well in dark and bright environments. Just make sure not to panic and blow all your shots at once.

Echo

The tight lines surrounding a small gap in this modified crosshair was inspired by Dallas Fuel's Sp9rk1e. The lines provide enough coverage to connect to a target quickly, but also prioritizes accuracy overall.

The reticle works well with Echo's alt-fire since they travel relatively slowly to the target, especially when you're using her verticality. The learning curve for her Tri-Shot can also be steep, so having a specialized aim guide can go a long way.

Genji

Overwatch 2 Crosshair Guide

One of the most compact examples of popular crosshairs in the pro esports scene. This 4-dot reticle is a great fit for one of Overwatch 2's most mobile damage heroes.

The tight center gap gives you the slightest amount of space to see your target while clearing up much of the screen's center. This makes left-click volleys true to their mark. On top of that, it can also help you zero in on unfortunate targets when you Deflect the enemy team's projectiles.

Hanzo

Carpe's infamous crosshair shows up on this list yet again for another equally infamous marksman: Hanzo Shimada.

A few tiny pixels can make a huge difference for your gameplay accuracy ratings. That being said, your arrows land perfectly when you're aware of EXACTLY where they're aimed. The tiny center gap once again shines in that regard. With Carpe's settings, your arrow targets are literally encircled.

Illari

Overwatch 2 Crosshair Guide

  • Dot Size: 2
  • Dot Opacity: 100%
  • Scale with Resolution: On

Illari's hard focus on lethal, long-ranged headshots demands a smaller reticle to give you more precision and balance, which also helps with her alt-click heals. The size and color gives you more visibility and contrast on your target, and the maxed out shift on your reticle assists with timing your charged shots.

Junker Queen

  • Dot Opacity: 100%
  • Scale with Resolution: On

The versatility of this preset needs no introduction. The crosshair with a dotted circle can be used among a wide spread of heroes in Overwatch 2, one of them being the latest matriarch of the wasteland.

Given the small spread of Junkerqueen's shotgun, every shot counts. This is especially true when you need to pick up the fight at the frontline. The lines on the reticle assists with trajectory whenever you throw her Jagged Blade as well.

Junkrat

Overwatch 2 Crosshair Guide

It seems silly to think of having a tailored crosshair reticle for a hero whose sole purpose is usually spamming down tight corridors and blowing up huddled-up opponents. But if you're looking to create gamer montages featuring insane trickshots midair, these might be the perfect settings to get you started.

The wide crosshair allows for easier shot adjustment whenever you fire one of his grenades. Other than that, “Show Accuracy” is disabled so that you aren't distracted by any extra movement onscreen.

Kiriko

  • Dot Opacity: 0%

Kiriko's traditional crosshair offers the usual comforts of any default reticle, but it is optimized for sharpshooters like Kiriko, who only has so much attack speed to defend themselves with.

This classic sights setting can be used in any situation, but the empty center gap gives you space to see exactly where your Kunai hits. That's another important factor to consider. Given the extra (almost triple) critical damage you can pull off with a single headshot, keep your sights aimed at head level.

Lifeweaver

  • Show Accuracy: Off
  • Color: Green
  • Thickness: 1

  • Center Gap: 8
  • Opacity: 50%

  • Dot Size: 2
  • Dot Opacity: 0%
  • Scale with Resolution: On

Lifeweaver's Thorn Volley has great damage potential for a support, but its rapid projectile fire needs a dependable reticle to land moving headshots.

The classic “CS:GO”-style crosshair gives you enough space on the screen to see the path of your thorns. Moreover, the color contrast well with Lifeweaver's alternate fire, giving you enough ease to hit where you need to. If you need help defending yourself as Overwatch 2's plant-based healer, these crosshair settings will up your chances for survival.

Another use of the bullseye crosshair. Lucio's Sonic Amplifier shoots a 3-round volley of soundwaves that travel slowly. These “hardlight” projectiles compensate by having a wide radius, meaning more room for error.

The large circle serves to accurately predicts where your shots will land, given that each wave is relatively large in size. The dot also helps you focus on the target in front of you.

With Mercy's recent Ultimate buff, hers required a more accommodating reticle. Resembling a large cross, this crosshair gives the kind doctor an advantage with her sidearm whenever she needs it.

Battlemercy pros have also recommended using these settings for its tight center gap and the specialized line length. Someone better call an ambulance (but not for you).

Granted, this crosshair isn't for newcomers. But if you want to test your tracking with one of Overwatch 2's most versatile support heroes, this special dot sight can help.
