With the end of the second VALORANT Masters of this season, it’s time to look ahead toward this year's Championship.
VCT 2022: Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen has ended a few days ago, with European squad FunPlus Phoenix lifting the trophy up on July 24th. This event was the last big tournament before this year’s VALORANT Champions, which will begin on September 2nd and concludes on September 18th.
Most of the 2022 Champs participants are known, as the teams with the most Circuit points already qualified for the biggest VALORANT event of the year. OpTic Gaming and XSET are the best in North America, while FunPlus Phoenix and Fnatic trumped everyone in Europe. From South America, LOUD will represent Brazil, while Leviatán is the first LATAM team to join the fray. Korean team DRX will also be there fighting for the grand prize, alongside Japan’s ZETA DIVISION, and APAC teams Paper Rex and XERXIA.
However, six open spots remain to be filled. The teams which didn’t gather enough points will fight in the regional Last Chance Qualifiers. So, 1 more team from Europe, NA, East Asia and the Asia-Pacific Region will have a shot at the Championship, while 2 squads can get in from South America. But when do the Last Chance Qualifiers start?
First, the APAC region will duke it out in their event, starting on August 1st and ending on the 7th. On August 4th, the North American LCQ will begin, and only 2 days after, the South American teams will also put their gloves on. Both of these events will end on the 14th, alongside with the EMEA Last Chance Qualifier, which begins on August 7th. Last, but not least, the East Asia tournament will begin on the 8th, which also end on the 14th – so a bit more than 2 weeks from now, we will know the full lineup of this year’s VALORANT Championship.
Tune in to the competition on the official VALORANT Twitch and YouTube channels during these dates, so you don’t miss any of the action!
