Valorant: Riot Hits Chamber With Nerfs on PBE

Riot Games have deployed nerfs for Valorant’s French Sentinel, Chamber on PBE servers.

Chamber Changes on Valorant PBE

As players in both ranked and pro play have mastered Chamber, his strengths have started to overshadow his weaknesses, making the counterplay to Rendezvous and his arsenal not as effective as Riot had hoped. Chamber's overall power has also felt outsized, and the developers believe that they can reduce his kit while still keeping him competitive with the rest of the roster.

Rendezvous (E)
Base Cooldown increased from 20s to 30s
Recall Cooldown increased from 20s to 30s
Cooldown set to 45s whenever a Rendezvous anchor is destroyed.
Radius Size decreased from 21m to 15m

Chamber's Rendezvous is intended to be powerful at holding space, but the generous radius allowed him to take more space than intended. This change will now require Chamber players to exert more effort to access off-angles.
“We hope that a harsher punishment for destroyed Rendezvous anchors, and the reduced radius will demand Chamber mains to be more careful in their use. This change also brings the counterplay of Chamber's destructible objects more in line with the behavior of other destructible objects in the game.” stated Riot in the PBE notes post on Reddit.

Trademark (C)
Slow Duration decreased from 9.5 to 6s

Tour De Force (X)
Ultimate Points Required increased from 7 to 8
Slow Duration decreased from 9.5 to 6s

Headhunter (Q)
Bullet Cost increased from 100 to 150

It's important that Headhunter is a powerful sidearm for Chamber, but at its current price point, it doesn’t cause Chamber to make difficult economic decisions as meaningfully as other Agents. This will noticeably impact Chamber's decision-making on pistol rounds and save rounds.

Ability Regional Damage Changes

Riot's Valorant team are adding a breakup of ‘regional damage' to all of the abilities that affect certain body segments different. With this latest change, Riot aims to fulfil its goal of rewarding players for their precise headshots and leg shots.

Damage per shot reduced from 22 to 18
Killzone increased from 15m to 20m
Leg shot multiplier reduced from 1.0 to 0.85
Headshot multiplier increased from 1 to 3

Tour De Force (X) leg shot multiplier reduced from 1.0 to 0.85

Bladestorm (X) leg shot multiplier reduced from 1.0 to 0.85

However, it remains to be seen whether these changes will remain untouched upon release or will vary based on the data and feedback gathered from players on PBE servers. After skipping Patch 5.02 to allow time for engineers to upgrade Valorant's in-game engine to Unreal Engine 4.26, Valorant's Patch 5.03 is scheduled to hit servers on Tuesday, August 9.
