Valorant: Excel Esports Moves Into Valorant With Davidp Signing

Excel Esports has announced its latest esports title move as they enter Valorant with the signing of former G2 Esports player David “Davidp” Prins.

Excel Esports has made a name for itself in the LEC and Fortnite. And now, with this signing, Excel is moving into its third esports title. Davidp will join the new roster as the captain and marks the organization’s first major signing since rebranding in November 2020.

As part of the organization's first steps into the Valorant scene, they’ve chosen to start off with a captain and coaching staff pickup. With these people in place, Valorant has been holding Valorant trials to fill out the rest of its roster.

Davidp joins off the back of his time on a dominant G2 Esports roster. Here, he won all seven Ignition Series in Europe, including BLAST Twitch Invitational, Vitality European Open, and We Play! Invitational. Davidp will lead the new Excel roster at this year’s Valorant Champions Tour with the organization targeting success at the event.

Kieran Holmes-Darby, Co-Founder & Chief Gaming Officer, Excel Esports, had this to say:

“Ever since Valorant was first announced we knew it was going to be a title with huge potential and one that we could thrive in. However, when it came to expansion we really wanted to take our time and find players and coaches that aligned with our vision so when we started talking to Davidp it felt like such a natural fit. We have big ambitions and are looking for the best and most promising talent to build out the roster and create a lasting legacy”

Davidp added: “ I am really excited to have found a home with Excel Esports. Since starting my journey in Valorant I have showcased my ability to not only win trophies but grow and adapt my playstyle. I can’t wait to show everyone what we can achieve”

No news is yet forthcoming about the rest of the Excel roster. Although, with Valorant esports starting 2021 with a bang, we assume it will only be a matter of time before they announce who will accompany Davidp.
