The Top CSGO Teams for 2020

2019 has been a breakout year for the entire Counter-Strike professional scene. However, I believe that there will be quite a few CSGO teams in 2020 that will prove their worth. If you're following recent esports news, then you will know huge esports organizations such as OG, Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves are all acquiring CSGO rosters.

In this piece, I'll provide you with the teams you should keep your eye on in 2020. Keep in mind that there are a lot of CSGO betting sites that will provide betting on these teams.

1. Astralis

The reigning kings of CSGO solidified themselves as the best Counter-Strike team in history. This is the first team to ever win 3 Majors in a row. They were successful on FACEIT Major 2018, IEM Katowice 2019 and StarLadder Berlin Major 2019.

Alongside three Major trophies, Astralis won 14 other top tier events. If we take a closer look at the HLTV team rankings, we can see that Astralis has been ranked as the best CSGO team in the world for 90 weeks and that says a lot about them.

So why is this Danish roster so good? A lot of CSGO professionals don't take Counter-Strike seriously. Despite being incredible when it comes to individual skill, there are other aspects of the game as well and this is where Astralis thrive. Danish organization always works hard on their strategy. If we talk about CSGO fundamentals, you won't find a better team than Astralis.

Even though there are a lot of CSGO teams in 2020 that will try to prove their worth against Astralis, I don't think that they'll be successful. All in all, 2020 should be another successful year for device, gla1ve, dupreeh, Magisk and Xyp9x as they will look to win the 4th Major in a row.

2. fnatic

There is no denying that fnatic are back. The most popular esports organization dominated everyone in the early days of CSGO, but in the last couple of years, they were nowhere to be found. Ever since flusha and olofmeister left, fnatic were not the same.

However, 4 months ago, the Swedish organization decided to mix things up as they replaced both xizt and twist. Flusha returned to the starting line-up alongside Golden. In my opinion, this was an excellent move made by fnatic as they secured one of the best in-game leaders on the market.

At the time of writing, fnatic is rated as the #3 CSGO team in the world. Why do I believe that fnatic will be one of the best CSGO teams in 2020? The math is simple. Fnatic already played against the best teams in the world, and they looked really good.

StarSeries i-League Season 8 and DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019 got everyone's attention as fnatic played out of their minds. I believe that fnatic needs a bit more time before they reach their peak, and in my opinion, they're a perfect CSGO team based on individual skill and experience.

3. G2

Ever since the revamp, G2 looked great. They've brought in two hard hitters in the form of nexa and hunter-. If you don't remember these two, let me help you. Hunter- is NiKo's cousin and in my opinion, one of the best players right now.

Furthermore, nexa is an in-game leader who is capable of carrying his own weight. From my perspective, this is what G2 lacked. Now that they have two players who can help kennyS, I simply can't ignore G2 on this list of the up-and-coming CSGO teams in 2020.

Before the winter break, we'll see G2 battle it out in the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals where they will compete against top contenders such as Astralis, Liquid, fnatic, Evil Geniuses. This will be a huge test for this CSGO roster and if they perform on a high level in Odense, they'll definitely be considered as contenders in 2020.

4. FaZe

Do you remember the time when everyone feared FaZe? Well, in early 2019, FaZe were awful. They had no teamplay and their strategy was mainly based on winning individual duels. However, after they removed GuardiaN and NEO things started to look better for FaZe.

Given the fact that FaZe picked up coldzera, we were expecting huge things from them and they delivered. After lifting the trophy on BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen 2019, FaZe traveled to China to participate on IEM Beijing 2019.

Playing two tournaments in one week can cause a lot of problems. Astralis and 100Thieves looked much better on this event as FaZe grabbed the third spot. At the moment, FaZe is topping their group in the ESL Pro League Season 10 Europe and I'm expecting them to qualify for the Finals in Odense.

To summarize, there are a lot of X-factors regarding FaZe. Lack of a proper in-game leader is just the top of the iceberg, but a perfect synergy from broky and coldzera could prove to be an excellent thing for FaZe Clan. All in all, this is definitely one of the CSGO teams in 2020 that should compete on a high level as they'll look to claim that #1 spot.

Teams in 2020 That Could Underperform

From my perspective, these two teams could underperform and eventually end up dropping from the ratings.

Evil Geniuses

I don't trust this team at all. Truth be told, most of their stats are padded and we can see that from the event they're playing. In a couple of days, Evil Geniuses will compete on CSGO Asia Championship 2019 where they will battle against lowered tiered teams such as TYLOO, ViCi, ENCE, MiBR, AVANGAR, etc.

At the moment, EG are ranked as the second-best CSGO team in the world. Even though I believe that they deserve a spot in the top 5, they definitely don't deserve to be ranked as the #2 team in the world. Prior to this ranking, EG were even ranked at #1 spot, which is crazy.

This North American esports organization always struggles against top contenders and there is no way that they can constantly defeat teams such as fnatic, Astralis and Liquid.

Vitality

Let's face it. Vitality are a one-man team. ZywOo is arguably the best CSGO player in the world right now. Things looked alright for the French-based CSGO roster, but ever since shox replaced Nbk-, Vitality are nowhere to be found.

If we take a closer look at their last performances, we can see a lot of inconsistencies. After an excellent showing on DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019, Vitality were one of the first teams to pack their bags on StarSeries i-League Season 8.

Truth be told, if Vitality don't make several roster changes in the near future, I can see them dropping out of the top 5. Who knows, maybe ZywOo will look for a new team if nothing changes in the near future. All in all, there are a lot of question marks above Vitality right now.
