The Groups for the Dota 2 MDL Chengdu Major are Set

The first Major of the new Dota 2 Pro Circuit starts in just two days from now. Sixteen of the best teams in the world will go head to head to decide which one of them will get the most significant piece from the pie which in this case is $1M USD.

The teams will be divided into four groups. As you probably remember, fifteen of them got here through the deadly regional qualifiers. On the other hand, the last contestant for the trophy is the winner of the Dota Summit 11 minor – Invictus Gaming. The Chinese powerhouse completely ripped through the competition just a couple of days ago. If you missed on any of the actions, be sure to check our daily recaps.

Let’s take a look at the groups that just got revealed.

Group A

The teams that have to fight here are EHOME, Fighting Pandas, TNC and Team Unknown. Needless to say, the biggest favorite here is the SEA powerhouse TNC. They won the ESL One Hamburg 2019 just a couple of weeks ago and many players consider them be among the strongest teams in the world right now. What’s more, even Johan “Notail” Sundstein predicted that they would be victorious.

Group B

By the looks of it, this will be the “group of death”, judging by the teams here. Fnatic, Alliance, Team Spirit and Vici Gaming will have to give it all out to be victorious. At first glance, it seems like Vici and Alliance might have the best chances. However, let’s not forget that Fnatic is also among the biggest favorites right now, especially when teams such as OG, Secret, etc. are not playing.

That said, the team that practiced the most here is Alliance. Adrian “Fata” Trinks’s newly formed squad won DreamLegue Season 12 and finished third at ESL One.

Group C

Without a doubt, the biggest favorite here is Evil Geniuses. The NA legends will be joined by Team Adroit, Team Aster and Team Liquid. The ex-Alliance roster is still struggling to find success after they’ve made the transition to Liquid. Even though they have a lot of potentials, it seems like something is still holding them back.

This will be the first official tournament for EG’s new roster after they’ve qualified for it. Needless to say, they have the potential to become the best team in the world once again. After all, they probably have the lineup with the most “stars” in it.

Group D

The last group consists of Gambit Esports, beastcoast, Invictus Gaming and J.Storm. Literally, every one of them has the chance to finish first here. The Chinese powerhouse kind of stands out because they’ve won the Dota 2 Summit 11 Minor. On the other hand, Gambit Esports are among the deadliest teams right now, especially since their roster after TI 9.

Of course, let’s not forget about beastcoast. The ex-Infamous roster is still living the Cinderella story after their incredible TI 9 run. They are without a doubt the best team in South America right now

Last, but certainly not least, we have another NA team – J.Storm. Clinton “Fear” Loomis’s team is slowly but steadily recovering after they’ve missed out on TI 9. That said, this will be their first big challenge yet.

The Group stage begins this Saturday and every single team will play on the first day. Be sure to tune in to BTS’s Twitch Channel so you don’t miss any of the action. However, if you won’t be able to watch it, don’t worry! We will be doing daily recaps about the most exciting things that happened.
