It is that time of the year, the shuffle time!
I'm personally not sure if EG will have a Dota 2 roster this year but we are all parting ways with the org and seeking a new future. Today many layoffs happened at EG and its very unlikely that they acquire a new roster.

There are many rumors as to why EG decided to disband its Dota 2 team. Some people claim that this is due to the squad’s poor performance at The International 12. Even though EG was not the favorite, fans expected the team to perform better. Sadly, this did not happen because EG finished 13th-16th.
According to the social media manager of Evil Geniuses in South America, we do not know if EG will have a Dota 2 roster for 2024. This is really strange because Evil Geniuses Dota 2 has always been one of the best in the world. With that said, it wouldn’t be that surprising because we need to remember the org’s decision to leave North America after spending many years there. According to Gaushi, the SMM, the organization made a lot of layoffs, which means that it will be very unlikely to see a new roster.
Following the news, EG’s ex roster no will be looking for a new sponsor and/or an organization. Who knows, we may even see the players going in different directions or even changing regions. Speaking of players, this is what EG’s rooster looked like:
- Jose “Panda” Padilla
- Farith “Matthew” Puente
- Jean Pierre “Chris Luck” Gonzales Salazar
- Adrián “Wisper” Céspedes Dobles
- Crhistian “Pakazs” Savina
Throwback
Speaking of Evil Geniuses Dota 2 and its decision to disband its Dota 2 team, the organization did the same near the end of 2022. This was when it decided to move to South America and create a new team consisting of players from beastcoast and Thunder Awaken.
Despite the good domestic result, EG was unable to win any events. Moreover, the team didn’t even get a top 3 finish, which was not what the organization anticipated when it moved to South America.
Conclusion
The bad news for the Evil Geniuses Dota 2 roster is that all those changes come to play a few days after it became clear that the organization has problems with its other teams. In fact, EG has been criticized a lot about how it treats its Valorant, Rocket League and even League of Legends players. It will be interesting to see what will happen with the organization and players in the future.
