Apex Legends has been in dire need of a change to their gameplay for a long time now. Fortunately for fans, Season 20 is bringing some new gameplay features to really shake up the game. The season will see the inclusion of a new map, improved ranked mode and most importantly the Perk and EVO system.
Perks are bonuses that each Legend is receiving. They function as buffs to the Legends. Perks are unlocked when a Legend levels up in the game. They get a choice between two perks for each level up. The Perks are reset every game.
We will look into the craziest perks that are coming for our Legends in season 20.
The Craziest Perks Coming to Apex Legends
There are about 100 perks that are being added. We will only be looking into the top perks that we think will be the most game-changing. All the Legends we will be going through will be the top picks this season, as they have considerable buffs to their already great abilities.
Crypto
- LVL 2:
Recovery Protocol – Reduced Tac Cooldown
Ultimate Upgrade – Reduced Ult cooldown
- LVL 3:
Wider Network – +50% Passive and Ult range
Satellite Ping – Call out squads in the area on Drone Deploy
Crypto is finally getting some much needed love from the developers at Respawn. The recon Legend deserved something new in his kit to make him viable for teams again. His perks this time are making that a reality.
His level 2 Perk, Ultimate Upgrade, combined with Wider Network, makes his drone a threat to every team. The drone can now scan enemies from further away and keep them tagged for a long time, allowing legal wall hacks. In addition, his ultimate has a massive area of effect (AOE). The Ultimate’s EMP is now a great way Crypto can damage enemies in a large radius.
Wattson
- LVL 2:
Amped Revive – Revive allies to 50 HP
Renewable Energy – Ult interceptions spawn Arc Stars
- LVL 3:
Power Pylon – Double Ult HP and capacity
Full Coverage – Double placement & Ult Accel speed
Wattson has always been one of the top-rated defensive Legends. Her upgrades make her unique kit even better for zone defense.
Wattson’s Level 2 perk, Renewable Energy, can turn any incoming ordnance into arc stars for her team to use. This includes other Legends' abilities and ultimates. A Gibraltar Ultimate, in particular, becomes a light show, providing multiple arc stars for her team. Her Level 3 Perk, Full Coverage, will allow Wattson to put down two Pylons and, boost her tactical ability in a longer range and provide constant shield regen in a larger radius.
Bangalore
- LVL 2:
Big Bang – See ordnance through walls and deathboxes
Ultimate Artillery – -25% Ult cooldown
- LVL 3:
Cover Me – Auto-Ping enemies who trigger Passive
Refuge – Regen HP inside Smoke
Bangalore has been a top pick in Apex Legends since the game launched. Her easy to understand and strong abilities have made her viable for multiple seasons.
Her Level 3 Perk, Cover Me, is going to be an absolute game-changer for the Legend. Bangalore’s smokes have always been very strong, enabling her to break an opponent’s line of sight and escape danger. In addition to disorienting her opponents, her perk will heal her as long as she is in her smoke. This ability alone is sure to make her an S-tier Legend in Season 20.
Bloodhound
- LVL 2:
Tactical Upgrade – Reduced Tac cooldown
Hunting Ravens – White Ravens charge Ult
- LVL 3:
Taste of Blood – 25HP/knock while in Beast of the Hunt
Full Coverage – Double Tac full-body scan duration
Bloodhound is the best Recon Legend in the game right now. Their ability to constantly scan enemies and let their entire team know the opponent’s position is extremely strong. Their perks enhance these abilities and make them a much more aggressive Legend.
Bloodhound’s Tactical Upgrade will allow them to do scans in quick suggestions. Their enemies will not get a chance to hide as the constant string of scans will force them to come out of hiding. Additionally, Taste of Blood will allow Bloodhound to be more aggressive in fights. The perk will heal Bloodhound every time they get a knock.
Mad Maggie
- LVL 2:
Crowd Control – +1 Tac charge, -25% active duration
Big Guns – 1.5x Depth and width of Tac
- LVL 3:
Killer Handling – Auto reload shotguns on knock
Fireball – A little inspiration from Fusey
Mad Maggie has one of the coolest new Perks added to the game. Her Level 3 Perk Fireball turns her Ultimate in a Fiery Wrecking Ball. When the Wrecking ball explodes, it leaves a thermite trail in an X-shape. This covers a larger area than regular thermites and does additional stun to enemies hit by it.
Fuse
- LVL 2:
Walk it Off – Ignore slow and 50% damage from Ult
Big Bang – See ordnance through walls and deathboxes
- LVL 3:
Wreckless – -25% explosive damage
Explosive – Speed Boost on Knuckle Cluster hit
The other Salvonian in the game also gets love shown to them through powerful upgrades. Fuse always had the potential to be a top pick, and this season may just make him S-tier.
Fuse’s Level 2 Upgrade, Walk it Off, will allow him to control indoors. Using his Ultimate indoors was always a high-risk, high-reward situation, but with this perk, it is just the reward. Fuse will not take much damage from his Ultimake and quickly move away from danger.
Furthermore, his Level 3 Perk, Explosive, will make him faster and more aggressive. Fuse has always been a fierce Legend, and this upgrade will let him take more fights easily.
Mirage
- LVL 2:
Revive Master – Revives allies with HP Regen
More of Me – +1 Ult decoy, -30s cooldown
- LVL 3:
Me Two – +1 Tac charge
Bamboozle Bonus – Bamboozles refresh Tac
The Master of Illusions is already one of the most fun Legends in-game. He will now become more fun to play and be a pain for his opponents to deal with.
Mirage’s perk, More of Me, will allow him to use his ultimate every 30 seconds. He will be the reason for multiple disoriented teams, as each time he uses his ultimate, enemies will have to scurry to find the real Mirage.
Both of his Level 3 perks are insanely strong. Me Two will provide him with two decoys. His decoys are already difficult to read, and adding an additional Decoy will make him more of a headache. The Bamboozle Bonus will allow Mirage to send out Decoys indefinitely, making it a blast to confuse opponents.
Octane
- LVL 2:
Thick Skin – -25% Stim damage
Reckless – +25% explosive damage
- LVL 3:
Aerial Agility – Change directions on double-jump
Mad Hops – +1 Ult charge
Octane is getting lore-accurate Perks. Both Thick Skin and Reckless are great perks for the adrenaline junkie.
His most significant buff, however, is Aerial Agility. Every Player in the game can now tap strafe. This includes players who play with a controller. Octane will remain the top-picked Legend because of his kit, becoming stronger for everyone.
Pathfinder
- LVL 2:
Forward Scout – Gain access to Survey Beacons
Insider Knowledge – Gain access to Ring Consoles
- LVL 3:
Death Grapple – Reset Tac on knock
Zipline Zen – Take less damage on energized Ziplines
Pathfinder will once again take the spot as the strongest Legend in Apex. Not only will he become a more versatile Legend because of his ability to scan either form of beacon in the map, but he can become the most aggressive Legend in-game again.
Pathfinder’s Death Grapple is the strongest upgrade in the game. Path can now engage an enemy, knock them down, and quickly escape. He can easily take down enemies without worrying about his opponent’s team attacking him.
