One of esports' biggest organizations, T1, has just announced that they have signed Smash player Leonardo “MkLeo” Lopez Perez. He is among the best SSB players of all time and is looking to further his legacy with the legendary organization. He will join with Jason “Anti” Bates as T1's second Super Smash Bros. player.
Most recently, MkLeo claimed victory at the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Singles at Frostbite 2020. But he has a long track record of success. He's won multiple high-profile tournaments, including GENESIS 6, EVO 2019 and Super Smash Con 2019, among others.
CEO of T1 commented on T1's most recent pickup.
“I’m beyond excited for ‘MkLeo' to join T1 as he will continue to strengthen our North American presence and reinforce T1’s commitment to the fighting game community. I’m confident he will be able to continue his legacy as one of the greatest of all-time as he looks to make his mark in T1 for years to come.”
Furthermore, MkLeo commented on the big move himself.
“It is great joining T1! I hope to continue to play well in Super Smash Bros. and I know that this is just the beginning of a lot of big things with my new T1 family.”
MkLeo has participated in SSB esports since he joined the scene in 2009. In addition, T1 has been busy this past year. Most recently, they resigned Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and made him part-owner of the organization. They reentered the professional Dota 2 scene a few months back as well.
The T1 family is continuing to grow and they show no signs of slowing down. If it keeps up, this is going to be a huge year for an already super successful organization.
