Supermarket Simulator Patch Notes: Hiring, Boost and Courier Changes

October 2026 update: covers the developer’s Steam announcements from August 20 to October 27, 2026, checked October 29, 2026.

Supermarket Simulator got five patches between August 20 and October 27, 2026. The biggest change is a rebuilt Hiring tab with employee levels and a new Boost system, and the newest one, patch 1.7.3, adds an Online Order Courier you can hire. Everything below comes from the developer’s Steam announcements.

Patch timeline since August 2026

Patch Date Main change
1.6.0 August 20, 2026 Readability Mode, pricing preset buttons, switches for Online Orders and Wholesale Orders
1.7.0 September 28, 2026 Rebuilt Hiring tab, employee leveling, reworked Boost, custom employee names
1.7.1 September 29, 2026 Multiplayer restocker and bankruptcy fixes
1.7.2 October 12, 2026 Steam Deck Verified, restocker and gamepad fixes
1.7.3 October 27, 2026 Online Order Courier added to the Hiring tab

Employee levels and the new Boost system

Patch 1.7.0 is the one that changes how you run a store. The Hiring tab now shows each employee’s level, wage and Boost status in one place, and wages progress as employees level up. The notes keep the familiar layout but add the new information, so you can see who costs what without opening anything else.

Boost is the part to understand before you spend money on it. Boosts are now handled from the Hiring tab and stay on until you change the Boost level. Each level has a fixed daily cost, but you only pay for the in-game time the employee actually spends boosted, and the wage cost shows right on the Boost bar.

The same patch lets you give employees custom names, reset them to their idle positions, and toggle Work Orders for the Customer Helper and the Janitor.

The Online Order Courier

Patch 1.7.3 added a new NPC to the Hiring tab: the Online Order Courier. When an online order arrives, you pack it and hand it to the courier, who takes care of the rest. As your store reaches higher levels you can employ up to two couriers, so more than one shipment can move at once. The announcement does not say at which store level the second courier unlocks or what a courier costs.

Quality-of-life changes from 1.6.0

Patch 1.6.0 was a UI update. Readability Mode switches panels to larger fonts and images, which helps on small screens and handhelds. You can turn it on in Settings or with the Layout button on the Market Computer, and you can pick the layout for each panel separately. Pricing now has preset percentage buttons for products and discounts, based on the current market price. You can also switch Online Orders and Wholesale Orders off in Settings if you want neither. In multiplayer, the host’s settings apply to the whole session.

Steam Deck and gamepad fixes

Patch 1.7.2 came with the news that Supermarket Simulator is Steam Deck Verified. Patches 1.7.2 and 1.7.3 both fix gamepad UI and navigation issues, and 1.7.1 through 1.7.3 each address restockers getting stuck or stopping, including at high levels or boost speeds.

What the notes do not say

The announcements do not list wage amounts per level, Boost costs per level, or the level that unlocks the second courier, so any table of those numbers would be a guess. The patches before 1.6.0 are not covered here. For licenses and what each unlocks, see our product licenses guide, which was last checked against the October 27 patch notes.
