Starfield: Where to Find Platinum (Best Deposits, New Merchants & More)

Here's where to find Platinum,  one of the rarest minerals in Starfield. These are the best places to get the precious metal in Starfield

As millions of people are getting on Starfield's intergalactic sandbox, it's majorly important to know the materials to look out for to make the most out of your space run.

Starfield's crafting system offers a plethora of in-game options to make your character specialize in any field you'd want, but some of the best upgrades, renovations and tech trees in the game require a very rare component: Platinum.

In Starfield, Platinum is used in creating rare weapon mods that you won't find anywhere else. It may also be used for constructing outpost modules and finishing important research projects.

Here's where to find Platinum in Starfield.

Where to Find Platinum in Starfield

Starfield has already seen tremendous success on Steam, despite the AAA title still on Early Access. We're just getting Bethesda's new game on the Game Pass at this time of writing, so with a bit of luck, more Platinum spots may reveal themselves as more people explore Starfield's shiny new frontier.

The closest planet to home, Bondar is the 1st planet in Earth's star system.  While lacking any kind of flora or fauna, this hot rock holds numerous rare elements on its inferno surface, including Platinum. Its powerful Magnetosphere makes it one of the most dangerous places where to find Platinum. Don't forget to bring your Cutter.

Next on our list of where to find Platinum is Stellis D, the 7th moon of Stellis. Besides the good amounts of Platinum you can scan off of the icy moon's surface, this satellite also holds other important resources such as Water and Cobalt.

Right next door is the Kapteyn system, which keeps its Platinum in its first planet. Kapteyn I hides it's deposits well, warranting a search for mineral veins on foot. Color markers are scarce here, but the rare metal can be found hiding behind large rocks on the sandy dunes. You can either use your Cutter to mine Platinum manually, or establish a fully-built Outpost on Kapteyn I to harvest the resource more efficiently with extractors.

Platinum Merchants in Starfield

These Starfield merchants will sell you their precious Platinum for a price. Luckily, the resource becomes available in these shops during the first hours of the game, giving you a good source for materials early on. The best part? They're all relatively close to one other, letting you save fuel in your search for the rare ore. Here's where to find Platinum merchants.
