Azure Ray midlaner Lu “Somnus” Yao doesn’t believe that his team are favorites to go through to the Bali Major playoffs
Azure Ray’s Lu “Somnus” Yao expressed doubts about their chances of reaching the Bali Major Playoffs. According to Somnus, the team faces significant challenges due to being placed in a highly competitive group. The 27-year-old identified US outfit Nouns as the only team they can possibly beat in the competition.
Somnus said it will be pretty hard for AR to get into Bali Major’s playoffs since there are too many strong teams in their group, but at least they can get a win from NOUNS. And if they can get into upper bracket he think they can win the whole tournament.

Somnus, however, also believes if they can make it to the upper bracket playoffs, they can mount a title challenge in Bali. His optimism wanes though when considering the possibility of landing in the lower bracket, as he anticipates it would result in an early elimination for the newly established China DPC team.

Somnus also offered his insights and predictions regarding the performances of PSG.LGD and Team Aster in the Chinese Dota scene. He believes that PSG.LGD and Team Aster currently find themselves in contrasting situations. PSG.LGD are capable of winning regardless of their draft, while Team Aster seem to struggle. Somnus further expressed his belief that the language barrier between the Team Aster players and Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan from Pakistan is posing difficulties for them in resolving their issues.
Azure Ray clinched the final Bali Major 2023 slot from the China DPC region by beating Xtreme Gaming in a tiebreaker series. Following two closely contested matches, Azure managed to secure a decisive victory in the third game, ultimately winning the series 2-1.
