Former TI5 champion believes the Nigma Galaxy star is too good for Division II DPC
The Berlin Major 2023 is in full swing, with the participating teams delivering some electrifying performances on the newly released Patch 7.33. Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan's stint as a stand-in for Team Aster has been one of the highlights of the tournament. The Nigma Galaxy midlaner is playing with a Chinese squad , but is the only person on the roster who can’t speak Chinese. The 24-year-old has been on fire regardless. SumaiL helped the side to secure a lower bracket playoff spot and he will be central to the Chinese outfit’s endeavor to progress beyond that stage. Evil Geniuses legend Peter “ppd” Dager believes SumaiL’s performances prove that he is too good for Division II DPC.
What Did PPD Say About SumaiL?
After SumaiL’s matchwinning performance against Team Spirit, ppd hailed the midlaner’s efforts. He thinks he has been so good that it would be a waste of his talents to go back to Division II, where his current team Nigma Galaxy play.
“I think it would be a shame for SumaiL to go play in Division II DPC after he’s going 17-0 at the Major on a regular basis. Hopefully, he gets a couple of offers (from other teams) after the major.”
ppd then gives his take on what qualities players must have to thrive at the international level.
“You know it’s not enough to be good at the game to succeed at this international stage. You have to politic and find the right teammates and jel. This is the best thing that could happen for SumaiL’s career, for sure.”
ppd appears to draw a comparison between SumaiL's exceptional performance at the Berlin Major and his underwhelming showings with Nigma Galaxy, a team that failed to qualify for major tournaments and was relegated to Division II after the end of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Western Europe (WEU) 2023 Tour 2: Division I. DreamLeague Season 19 is the biggest tournament Nigma Galaxy have played in recent times, but they entered the competition via a late invitation following PSG.LGD’s last-minute cancellation.
Fans have been treated to a delightful display of SumaiL's exceptional skills during his stand-in performances for Team Aster at the Berlin Major 2023. Despite the obstacles of communication issues and language barriers, SumaiL has managed to adapt seamlessly to the team's chemistry and deliver outstanding results. The midlaner might feel tempted to leave Nigma Galaxy for a Division I side should the right offer comes along.
