Paper Rex’s star Duelist Ilya “something” Petrov has confirmed attending Champions 2023 after missing Masters Tokyo due to visa troubles

During VCT Pacific 2023, Singaporean roster Paper Rex equipped themselves with a gem of a player from the third week of the Regular Season – 21-year-old Russian Ilya “something” Petrov. Within weeks, something secured insane statistics in Pacific League’s matches, helping the team finish the Regular Season with a 7-2 record. From a substitute player, the Russian became an important member of the Singaporean team, which resulted in the VCT Pacific trophy achieved from a reverse sweep against APAC’s former kings at DRX.

The storyline of something had a lot of similarities to North America’s new talent Max “Demon1” Mazanov, who took Evil Geniuses to new heights after arriving as a new addition to the team. As a result, fans around the world were excited to watch them play in the global Masters event in Tokyo, but visa issues became a problem for something, resulting in him missing the tournament. 

Without the talented Duelist player, Paper Rex had to compete with their substitute Patiphan “cgrs” Posri in Japan, securing the #3 spot of the event in an exciting run.

In a Twitter post, something confirmed his attendance at VCT Champions 2023, which will take place in Los Angeles. As a new addition just before Pacific League, the shortage of time before the Masters played a large role in visa problems for the Paper Rex player. With more time in hand before the Champions, this issue won’t haunt Paper Rex in the biggest VALORANT event of the year.
