Overwatch 2 Season 8 is finally out, and the final patch for 2023 gave us more than a few balance updates. These, along with the release of a new map and Overwatch 2's latest hero has fans excited. And that's on top of the new Monster Hunter-themed battle pass cosmetics. But what's rocking the game even more this patch are the seasonal changes to the playable heroes in the game.
Another round of huge balance changes have put new support heroes in the meta. And for now, these picks are your best bet to climbing the ranks in Season 8. On the other hand, yesterday's supports are taking a backseat as we see old, dependable heroes land on lower tiers.
Here's our Season 8 Best Supports Tier List for Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 Support Tier List for Season 8
We placed heroes on each tier based on recent changes and how they'd fare against popular dive heroes and counter-supports. Rankings are highly subjective, and an F-tier Overwatch 2 hero is a great pick if you have fun playing them. Should your favorite Overwatch 2 support hero be on a higher tier?
Overwatch 2 Support Tier List S-Tier
- Mercy
- Moira
Highly-impactful in every fight, heroes on the S-tier can sustain their team through any enemy onslaught, and have enough in their kit to get themselves to safety.
Mercy is the epitome of her class in the Season 8 meta. Her Caduceus Staff can either empower or give unbelievable sustain, and her mobility makes her hard to pin down. Plus, Mercy has seen mostly QOL changes in recent patch notes, so the devs seem to have hit the mark with Overwatch's founding doctor balance-wise (at least for now).
Moira has also seen tons of use across several seasons due to her S-tier kit. Known as a “DPS healer”, players on any skill level can play as irresponsibly as they want in the enemy flank due to her invulnerable Fade ability. On the other hand (no pun intended), Dr. O'Deorain delivers huge heals over time to her entire team without even needing to aim.
Overwatch 2 Support Tier List A-Tier
- Ana
- Lifeweaver
Great picks for a lot of situations, A-tier supports hold their own while needing only some protection from their teammates.
Ana's anti-heal arsenal holds up in Season 8, giving her a lot of value in Overwatch 2's current Tank meta. But her current cooldowns, low mobility and her skill-dependent peel gives her a bit of a steep learning curve. She would be on S-tier were it not for the recent nerfs to her Biotic Grenade.
Lifeweaver's self-sustain and fun healing gives the Ecolight inventor a solid boost on our list. His solid DPS on Thorn Volley and short dash ability makes him another Damage-Support Hybrid, and the utility he provides right now cannot be understated. If your Lifeweaver knows how to position themselves, rest assured.
Overwatch 2 Support Tier List B-Tier
- Illari
- Kiriko
- Lucio
- Zenyatta
Situational hero picks, our B-tier heroes require a considerable amount of skill to be considered effective in most cases.
Illari is Overwatch 2's newest off-support hero, and she brings a lot to the table. Like Ana, the Inti warrior can also dispatch enemies from a long range. But her slow, single-target heals and destructive ultimate leave much to be desired despite her latest buffs.
The Kanezaka guardian takes a step back this season due to the recent nerfs on Protection Suzu, but Kiriko mains should still be able to make the most out of her increased healing range and Suzu's doubled HP regain.
Lucio's Crossfade lets him give his team speed and sustain needed to break out of a bad spot. That said, his skillset needs huge amounts of practice in any rank. Often you'll see new Lucio players position themselves where they shouldn't, or overextend. That's why we're placing Rio's favorite son on B-tier.
Overwatch 2 Support Tier List C Tier
- Brigitte
C-tier supports tend to rely heavily on team synergy, or are assigned a very specific role in every competitive update.
Brigitte's shield power hasn't been the best in recent times. Heroes like Zarya or Reaper are among her many hard counters. And despite the improvements to her Shield Bash damage and ult duration, her main healing mechanic was severely nerfed, setting Brigitte in the C-tier.
Overwatch 2 Support Tier List F Tier
- Baptiste
The least optimal support picks in Season 8.
Baptiste's had a hard time this year. The ex-Talon operative's Immortality Field and AOE heal skill were recently weakened, seemingly negating any kind of buff he's had in 2023. With any luck, we'll be seeing more positive changes come his way for Baptiste to get out of his current state.
