Overwatch 2 Season 9 will probably be one of the most important seasons for the game so far. Let’s learn about some changes.

People are really hyped about some of them, so more and more users want to know when is Overwatch Season 9 coming. The answer is soon, but the hype and controversies around it have already begun.
What happened?
Clarifying a few things with the self-heal. It's one part of a much larger set of changes coming to the game in S9. Internally we're talking about, and targeting some of these changes at damage spikiness in game, the role of DPS in securing kills, and the strength of healing. https://t.co/Ay68KOZAFD

During the routine Overwatch 2 Director’s take, where the devs comment about what is to come, we’ve learned that all DPS and Tank heroes will be getting some sort of HP regen. This is huge and is one of the biggest changes to Overwatch since the game’s arrival. In fact, that’s one of the reasons why some people said that this will feel like Overwatch 3.
The addition of the self Overwatch 2 healing mechanism makes the game a lot more dynamic. The idea behind these Overwatch 2 Season 9 changes is to allow supports to have more freedom and remove some of the pressure. With that said, it seems like not everyone liked the idea, which forced Aaron Keller, Overwatch 2’s games director, to write a long Twitter post.
In his post, Aaron Keller said that the self-healing changes are just one part of a much larger set of changes that OW players will get in Season 9. He said those words because there were Reddit posts where Overwatch 2 players expressed their concerns that such changes would have a very big role in the game’s teamwork. After all, since heroes will be able to sustain themselves, we won’t see that many supports in the game.
Following Aaron’s Response
Besides saying that the self-healing changes to Overwatch 2 Season 9 are just one of the many things we will have access to, Aaron Keller also said that these changes will address other issues. This includes DPS’s roles in getting kills, damage spikes, and overall healing.
Following the announcement, the Overwatch community is even more divided than before. On the one hand, you have people who believe that these changes will be better and make the game more interesting. However, there are also loads of users who are skeptical. A lot of them are pointing out that Blizzard’s most recent OW decisions have not been the best and address Mauga’s arrival and the fact that he became the strongest hero in the game.
What could happen after the changes?
As mentioned, some people from the Overwatch 2 community are afraid that the game won’t feel as unique as before. This is true up to a point because the impact of supports won’t be that big. However, these changes could lead to an overall more balanced gameplay for those who play alone. If you don’t remember, this was one of the things that the directors said in the Overwatch 2 Director’s take – the team is trying to make the game more enjoyable for everyone.
One thing is certain – people will keep asking when is Season 9 Overwatch 2 because it will bring some of the biggest changes we have seen in months. Make sure to follow ESTNN because we will provide you with more details about it as soon as it becomes available.
