Overwatch 2 Season 4: Which Heroes to Focus On To Reach Grandmaster

Here are the Overwatch 2 Season 4 heroes you should focus on.

After waiting for it for a few days, Overwatch 2 Season 4 is finally here. As expected, the new season gave us access to loads of new things, including a new support hero. Feel free to check our Lifeweaver hero guide for more information about the support.

Although Lifeweaver seems very interesting, many other Overwatch 2 heroes are also worth picking in the current patch, especially if you want to reach the Grandmaster rank as fast as possible. What you’re about to see is a list of heroes that you should pay more attention to in the upcoming months. Although some of them may receive small nerfs, the Season 4 changes made them slightly better than before.

Sigma

sigma-tankz

Sigma is among the tanks in Overwatch 2 Season 4 that received substantial changes. Although some people may not be happy about the damage reduction to Accretion, the knockdown duration buff is very good. For those who don’t know what we’re addressing, Signa’s Accretion now deals 40 damaged (80 with the explosion), and the knockback duration is 1.1s instead of 0.8s.

Even though a 0.3s increase in the knockback effect might not seem much in the lower Overwatch 2 rank, high-rated players will greatly appreciate it. Every CC effect in Overwatch 2 is incredibly strong because the game doesn’t have that many CC abilities. Therefore, Sigma becomes an even better option for Overwatch 2 Season 4 players who want to reach Grandmaster.

Sigma is not a hero you want to have on every map, but he shies more than other Overwatch 2 tanks in some instances. One of the reasons why so many people use him to rank up is because of his ability to duel other tanks and shut down certain DPS heroes. However, the hero is not easy to play, so learn how it works before you grind for that Overwatch 2 Grandmaster rank.

Brigitte

support hero changes

Speaking of Overwatch 2 heroes, you can reach Grandmaster with that received changes in Season 4, we need to include Brigitte. Interestingly, she became the hero with the most changes, almost all of which affected her Rally. Following the new patch, the ability does the following:

  • White it’s active, Brigitte gets 100 restorable armor.
  • She no longer gradually builds temporary HP like her allies.
  • While Rally is on, Brigitte’s Barrier Shield is larger and has more HP (750 instead of 300).
  • During Rally, Shield Bash affects several enemies and will briefly stun them.
  • The movement speed bonus is down from 30% to 15%.

Aside from the changes affecting Brigitte’s ultimate, the Repair Pack now has a 25 range instead of 30, which is also a small nerf. However, it is not that significant when compared to the buffs the hero gets from her ultimate. Therefore, we believe Brigitte will be one of the best Overwatch 2 heroes to reach Grandmaster with.

This is among the few supports that can work in several setups, including dive combos. Of course, we’re yet to learn more about the setups that people will focus on during Season 4.

Widowmaker

When it comes down to reaching Grandmaster in Overwatch 2 Season 4, we have to mention Widowmaker. This is among the heroes that didn’t receive any changes in the current patch. However, she was nerfed in Season 3 after being one of the best DPS during Season 2.

Despite the nerfs, this hero remains one of the best in the game, but only in the hands of those who know how to use her potential. People who’re good at landing headshots with Widowmaker can reach every Overwatch 2 rank they want, including Grandmaster.

Of course, being a good Widowmaker player is not easy and takes a lot of practice. What’s more, you need to know how to position yourself, especially against the likes of Lifeweaver and his ability to lift allies. Having good positioning is even more important now than before.

Zarya

If you’re looking for an Overwatch 2 tank in Season 4 to reach Grandmaster with but you don’t want to play Sigma, look at Zarya. The nerfs that the hero received several patches ago have kept her out of the meta. Even though she didn’t get anything new in S4, the change to the meta and the fact that Brigitte is even stronger definitely put Zarya in a better position.

This is a hero that shines when enemies do not know how to play against it. As a result, Zarya is often the number 1 option when it comes down to ranking up from Silver all the way to Diamond. Unlike other Overwatch 2 tanks, Zarya is pretty easy to master and can work really well with a lot of heroes. In fact, you can single-handedly carry any team fight when you have your ultimate on.

Mei

Mei one of the heroes recieving some changes in Overwatch 2

The next name on the list of the best Overwatch 2 heroes in Season 4 to get Grandmaster with may be surprising to some. However, we must remember that Mei is an excellent hero in a brawl meta where she has to go up against Brigitte, Rein, Zarya, and so on. Considering that those are among the best heroes in the game right now, it shouldn’t be surprising we think Mei is an amazing option.

Mei is not the easiest DPS in Overwatch 2 to master because she’s very different from the rest. However, once you learn how to control your team fights and where you shine, you can do some insane damage. Of course, Mei is also one of the heroes with the best CC in the game, and her ultimate is more than powerful to win most fights.

With that said, the changes that came along with Overwatch 2 Season 4 allow Sombra’s EMP to disable Blizzard. In other words, you have to be careful when playing against this hero because she removes a lot from Mei’s potential.
