By the looks of it, Blizzard decided to cancel the OW2 PvE mode that was rumored to arrive this year. Instead, the company will focus on the PVP side of things and pay more attention to the competitive changes.
It goes without saying, but people are more than disappointed with the Overwatch PvE canceled decision. If you remember, 2023 was when the devs gave us access to the first type of PvE content when Season 6 called “Invasion” arrived last year. It included 3 interesting missions, and people expected to see a lot more this year, but it seems like this won’t be the case.
Overwatch 2 PvE won’t continue to develop because, according to Blizzard, the missions sold poorly. Due to the lack of funds, the company even laid off some of the PvE devs. What’s even more surprising is that the devs did not get any percentage from the profits.
The Overwatch 2 PvE Content In S6
Even though we and a lot of other people liked the PvE Overwatch 2 content, others had mixed feelings. Some people were really disappointed with what was available because there were huge promises when OW2 was announced. Instead of getting a completely new experience, players only had access to a couple of missions.
According to Aaron Keller, the dev team had to do too many tasks at once and lost focus. This led to a drastic decision to “kill the Overwatch 2 PvE”, which means that the dev team will only focus on the PvP aspect of the game.
What’s Next?
Even though a lot of people think that the Overwatch 2 Pve is over for good, we might see a comeback in the future. According to a Blizzard spokesperson, the team is exploring new experiences, which means that the Overwatch 2 PvE might be back in the future.
We at ESTNN will make sure to keep an eye on any future changes and let you know when they become available. Until then, make sure to follow us for additional information.
