Today we’re taking a look at some of the hottest heroes in the Grandmaster skill tier in Overwatch 2 Season 3.
Season 3 of Overwatch 2 is here, and it changed many of the things we were used to. Some of the best heroes in the game received different changes, which had an effect on their play style. We’ve already covered everything you need to know in our Overwatch section, so make sure to check the latest articles.
Of course, the changes in Season 3 affected all skill tier groups, including the Grandmaster. Since it consists of the best Overwatch 2 players in the world, many of them quickly adapted to the changes and maximized their results. However, some haven’t had the opportunity to play yet, so we’ve decided to share a few things about the most picked heroes.
Even though the stats below are prone to change after the mid-patch update, we don’t expect to see any major changes in the next couple of weeks. The fact that these heroes have more picks than the rest makes them more interesting and is a sign that they work.
Ana
The first hero on the list when it comes down to picks is Anaa. Although the hero’s 49.53% win rate in the Grandmaster bracket may not seem impressive, Ana’s pick rate sits at 9.63%. This is impressive, to say the least because it means the hero takes part in most games.
Ana might be better than Kiriko on paper, but the hero has one big advantage – her CC ability. When used correctly, Ana can single-handedly stop an enemy hero from killing the team, or she can set up an easy kill. Sure, this ability has a long cooldown, but it can win games when used right.
We expect to continue to see Ana in most Grandmaster Overwatch 2 Season 3 games. She is among the top-picked heroes in this skill tier for a reason.
Kiriko
Speaking of the devil, the second spot on the list for the most picked Overwatch 2 hero in the Grandmaster Skill Tier Season 3 is Kiriko. She is one of the go-to heroes in all skill brackets, which probably doesn’t surprise most people. The hero has been dominating the meta ever since she became available.
If we take a look at Kiriko’s Grandmaster stats, we can see the hero has a 49.20% win rate and an 8.55% pick rate. Although she’s slightly less effective than Ana on paper, she is incredibly strong and one of the best overall pick right now. Her insane mobility, utility, and ability to do damage make her a crucial part of any team.
Mercy
The third name on the list is for another support, but this time, it is a hero that always had a role in every meta. Mercy’s core changes that took place in Season 3 definitely made the hero stronger. Hence, it shouldn’t be surprising that she has the highest win rate on the list, with 50.20%.
What’s interesting about Mercy is that she works incredibly well with certain DPS and Tanks. One of them is Sojourn, which also happens to be on the list (more about her later). Mercy can also work with several other top tanks, including Orisa.
Mercy is among the most picked heroes in the Grandmaster skill tier for Overwatch 2 Season 3 because she has a 5.80%. Although this result is slightly higher than Moira’s (she’s next on the list), the hero has a substantially better win rate.
Moira
Up next, we have the last support on the list – Moira. Albeit not as strong as the other 3 options, many players in the Grandmaster skill tier in Overwatch 2 use her daily. Moira has a 5.31% pick rate and a 48.26% win rate, which is okay compared to the rest.
One of the big reasons why this hero is so popular among the best Overwatch 2 players in the world s because she works well with some of the hottest tanks. Moira is the type of hero that can heal multiple units at once. She’s exceptionally strong with dive setups because of her ability to play aggressively and defensively when needed.
Sojourn
After taking a look at the hottest supports in the current meta, the next name on the list is the most popular DPS. What’s interesting about Sojourn is that she isn’t as big in the other brackets as she is in Grandmaster. That’s because players need to hit their Railgun shots in order to be effective. Sadly, not everyone in the lower-skill tier can do that.
What’s interesting about Sojourn is that the hero has a 4.57% pick rate and a 48.51% win rate. Although she’s not the most successful DPS in Overwatch 2 Season 3, she is a hero that can work in almost all combos.
Speaking of the devil, we have to include the popular Sojourn and Mercy combo that has been terrorizing the meta for several weeks now. Despite the numerous Sojourn changes in the last couple of months, the hero remains one of the best in the hands of those that can land their shots.
Soldier: 76
The next name on the list is a hero similar to Sojourn in many ways. Even though one-shotting targets with Soldier is not that easy, the hero’s amazing movement speed, healing, and ability to nuke with his rockets make him very dangerous.
According to the stats, Solider: 76 has a 4.27% pick rate and a 47.80% win rate, making him one of the most picked Overwatch 2 heroes in the Grandmaster skill tier in Season 3. Even though his win rate isn’t that impressive, he is one of the preferred options for many players.
Besides the fact that Solider works in many different combos, he is one of the heroes that received buffs in Season 3. According to the patch notes, Soldier: 76’s shots to reach maximum recoil are now 6 instead of 4. What’s more, his recoil has been reduced by 12%, meaning players can be even more accurate than before.
Orisa
When it comes down to the tank, one of them is clearly above the rest in the Grandmaster skill tier. Orisa has been one of the best tanks in Overwatch 2 since the game’s arrival around 5 months ago. However, she hasn’t been the “meta” tank because heroes like Roadhog, Zarya, and Doomfist were slightly more popular.
With that said, it seems like the arrival of Overwatch 2 Season 3 and all of the changes made Orisa the best. Currently, this is the most popular tank in the Grandmaster skill tier, with a 3.72% pick rate. Interestingly, Orisa also has a 48.98% win rate, which is way higher than most tanks in the game.
Orisa’s success surprises some people because the hero received a Damage falloff nerf of 15 meters (it was 25 before). In other words, this tank is not as effective as before, at least when it comes down to long-range fights.
Lucio
The next name on the list is for another support. Everyone knows that Lucio has been one of the preferred options for almost all support Overwatch 2 players during Seasons 1 and 2. Even though we didn’t expect him to be that big in Season 3, he remains one of the most picked heroes with a 3.62% pick rate.
What’s more impressive about Lucio is the hero’s win rate. With a 51.56% win rate, he is one of the most successful heroes in Overwatch 2 right now. His ability to carry his team and help them with movement speed makes him an invaluable option. Needless to say, we expect the hero continues to be among the preferred options for the best OW 2 players.
Genji
The third and most successful Overwatch 2 DPS hero on the list is Genji. Even though he is not on the same level of popularity as Sojourn or Soldier: 76, he is a hero that we see a lot more often than others. Hence, his pick rate sits at 3.47%.
Besides being one of the most pickled heroes in the Grandmaster skill tier, Genji is also among the most successful ones. His 50.13% win rate makes him incredibly effective in the current meta. He is extremely elusive, can deal a lot of damage, and his ultimate is powerful enough to decide the outcome of almost every team fight.
Since Genji is a hero that requires a lot of skill to master, it shouldn’t be surprising that Grandmaster players shine with him.
Roadhog
The last hero we’d like to add to the list is Roadhog, the Overwatch 2 tank that ripped through everyone during Season 1 and Season 2. This was undoubtedly one of the most annoying heroes in the game because he had the potential to one-shot every squishy target he hooked. If that wasn’t enough, Hog also has the best self-healing in the game and tons of HP.
Although he was among the most successful tanks, the nerfs affected his popularity and win rate. According to the stats for the Overwatch 2 Season 3 Grandmaster skill tier, Hog has a 3.42% pick rate and a 47.79% win rate. This may not seem that impressive, but it is enough to put him back on the map.
It will be interesting to see whether Hog will continue to be one of the preferred options for some of the best players in the game. Following Season 3’s arrival, Ren is slowly becoming the most successful tank in Overwatch 2, so he might take Hog’s role.
