Marved Leads Sentinels to Victory as their In-Game Leader in VCT Americas

The Iceman is back to IGLing after nearly two years

The question of who will lead the squad arose after Rory “dephh” Jackson, former Sentinels captain, parted ways with the team. During their match today against KRÜ Esports, head coach Adam “kaplan” Kaplan announced Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen as this week’s in-game leader.

With ‘Jimzo’ in charge of the roster, Sentinels were able to close the series with a 2-0 score against the Chileans, who now have a 0-8 record after this loss. During halftime, broadcast talent Josh “Sideshow” Wilkinson spoke on Marved’s callings, saying that other teammates were more engaged in the comms alongside their captain in this match compared to when dephh was IGLing.

This is not the first time the 23-year-old has called strats for his team, as he was once the IGL for FaZe Clan around 2021. However, even though the Iceman was able to guide the squad to victory in this game, it’s still unknown whether he will be leading again for Sentinels’ next and final match of the Regular Season, as kaplan specified the Controller stepping in the IGL role for this week.

Even if Sentinels manages to win their next game against FURIA, they will have a low chance of confirming a Playoffs spot. So far, the very close match against KRÜ isn’t looking great for the team’s future, as they will need a lot of round differential points to break ties with other VCT Americas’ squads. With that being said, a lot will depend on the Sentinels vs FURIA matchup next week, and a dominating series from the North Americans is necessary to increase their chances of moving forward.
