Dota 2: The Leipzing Major Qualifiers – Day 2 Recap

After a pretty awesome Day One in the qualifiers for the second Major of the year, it's time to see which team managed to earn their spot in the Playoffs. Let’s take a look at what happened in some of the regions competing for glory – and an invite.

CIS

Ever since VP did their roster changes, this region is absolutely hectic. Literally, every single team is capable of beating their opponents, which makes it very fun to watch.

Virtus.Pro was on the edge of not qualify for the second Major in a row. Their performance yesterday was nothing to brag about and they needed a change in Day 2. Luckily, the sun shined bright upon the CIS powerhouse as they ripped through HellRaisers today. They completely annihilated their enemies in less than 21 minutes. Apart from VP, Natus Vincere is the second team that will play in the playoffs tomorrow.

In the first group, Gambit esports and Team Spirit continued their dominance even today. Both of them had little to no issues against their enemies. However, the next challenge against these teams won’t be a walk in the park.

China

After the surprising elimination of PSG.LGD, the other Chinese teams looked very fired up. As expected, the top teams from the regions made it to the playoffs. Team Aster, EHOME, Vici Gaming and Invictus Gaming played very well in all of their games. However, the team that impressed us the most is EHOME.

Ever since that roster change where they’ve added Liu “Sylar” Jiajun, things changed for them. We can only hope that they will continue to play in the same way as today.

On the other hand, Newbee and Royal Never Give up will have to decide which one of them will go to the Bukovel Minor. This is definitely going to be an epic series because both teams are very unpredictable.

SEA

This was one of the most interesting regions to watch yesterday because there were many surprises. For instance, Reality Rift came out of nowhere and won their group after a very stellar performance. On the other hand, the MDL Chengdu Champion (TNC) had a lot of issues in Day One. In fact, they occupied the last slot in their group but it seems like they’ve finally woke up on the right side of the bed today. With little to no effort, the best team in the region cruise through the competition and got the second slot for the Playoffs.

Group B was the same as yesterday, the only difference being Cignal Ultra. Even though most people thought Boom Esports would go through, they didn’t make it to playoffs. Needless to say, Fnatic finished first here with little to no effort. The next challenge ahead of the SEA powerhouse is going to be TNC. This will be probably the most interesting series out of all qualifiers so far.
