IEM Dallas Groups And Matches Announced

FURIA, OG, G2, and Nouns will feature in the first two matches of the tournament

The excitement surrounding IEM Dallas continues to build as ESL reveals the groups and opening matchups of the showpiece event set to take place from May 29 to June 4. With a generous prize pool of $250,000 up for grabs, the stage is set for an adrenaline-fueled tournament that will feature 16 teams from around the world.

The opening fixtures will follow a best-of-one format, and the remaining matchups will be best-of-three affairs. ESL has decided to move away from the traditional best-of-five setting for the Grand Final, so the final showdown on June 4 will be a best-of-three battle between the last two standing. This is not a surprising reveal, however. Michael “Cynil” Parsons, ESL’s Senior Product Manager, had announced before the IEM Rio 2023 Grand Final that the organization will be hosting fewer best-of-five Grand Finals moving forward. Only IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne will have BO5 Grand Finals, while IEM Rio, IEM Dallas, and IEM Fall champions will be decided via BO3 bouts.

The spotlight shines on Heroic as they take center stage at IEM Dallas in Dallas, Texas as the world’s best-ranked team. The Danish squad might also land in the US as BLAST.tv Paris Major Champions, if they manage to win two more matches in the French capital. In Group A, Heroic kicks off their campaign with an opening match against 9z, who hold the second-lowest ranking ahead of Evil Geniuses.

OG and FURIA are poised to collide in a thrilling opening fixture at the Texan tournament. With a disappointing run at the BLAST.tv Paris Major, where FURIA failed to secure any victories in the Legends Stage, the Brazilian giants are eager to rebound and display their true potential against OG in IEM Dallas.

Group B at IEM Dallas features the reigning champions, Cloud9, who will be vying for another triumph in the $250,000 competition. Their journey begins with a match against Grayhound, a contest that seems to heavily favor the skilled roster led by Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov.

As the ‘Local Hero' invite, Evil Geniuses face a daunting challenge in Group B at IEM Dallas. The team, predominantly consisting of American players, faces a tough challenge against FaZe in their opening match. FaZe, who recently made a notable appearance in the playoffs of the BLAST.tv Paris Major but were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Heroic, are expected to be strong contenders for a deep run in the tournament.
