IEM China 2024 Lineup: Main Event and Closed Qualifier Invitees Unveiled

The IEM China 2024 lineup will feature some of the best teams in the world

The complete list of teams invited to participate in IEM China has been revealed by ESL. The event is slated to run from April 8 to 14, right after the PGL Major Copenhagen, and features a prize pool of $250,000. ESL rewarded six loyal partners with invitations, while four top-ranked contenders secured their spots through the World Ranking system. The final IEM China 2024 lineup will feature 16 teams, which means six teams will get the chance to claim a spot via qualifiers.

IEM China 2024 Lineup: Who Got Invited?

Seven teams from HLTV's top ten global rankings will fly to china in April for the event. Partner teams G2, MOUZ, and FaZe are among the participants, along with Heroic, FURIA, and Astralis. Heroic, who are a common sight in the HLTV top 10, are currently unranked on HLTV after making three player changes, while the other two teams are positioned in the top 20.

Monte, Cloud9, Complexity, and Virtus.pro secured invitations to the event based on their rankings in the ESL World Ranking. Lynn Vision, on the other hand, stands alone as the only team so far to go through the qualifiers and earn a place in the main event, thanks to their decisive win against TYLOO in the China closed qualifier held in November.

Niu “westmelon” Zhe and company snatched their place at IEM China 2024 by claiming a 2-1 victory against TYLOO in front of a full-capacity crowd of 500 fans. They achieved this by winning on Anubis (13-8) and Nuke (16-13), with a loss on Overpass (8-13) in between.

No Vitality and Natus Vincere

Vitality and Natus Vincere, both eligible for direct invites based on their ESL ranking, have decided to decline the invitations, making them the two notable omissions from the top ten.

The freshly formed Falcons roster earned a spot in the Europe qualifier, joining BetBoom, BIG, and Eternal Fire.

It's worth mentioning that TYLOO will receive a second opportunity to qualify for the tournament through the Asia qualifier, providing them with a chance to compensate for their loss to Lynn Vision in the China qualifier.
