GeT_RiGhT Steps Down from NiP Active Roster, Will Not Retire

Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund announced this morning that he would no longer be on the Ninjas in Pyjamas active roster.

Following months of reports that Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund would not be on the active Ninjas in Pyjamas for much longer, Alesund announced that he has removed himself from it this morning on Twitter.

While many fans wondered if the storied player would retire when his time with the Ninjas had come to an end, Alesund put a swift end to that with another tweet shortly after.

Whispers that Alesund was on his way out of NiP started several months ago prior to the StarLadder Berlin Major and after the Ninjas signed Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez in early June. The move followed almost two entire years where Ninjas in Pyjamas looked unfocused and failed to win any major tournament. Their last S-Tier tournament win was IEM Oakland in 2017.

Fans and analysts often criticized Alesund's performance as of late, but the fact of the matter is that he is one of the most important and impactful players in Counterstrike history as a whole, not just Global Offensive. During CS 1.6, Alesund played under the Fnatic banner, winning IEM Worlds III and the eSport Player of the Year at the eSports Awards 2009.

After his move to Ninjas in Pyjamas for Global Offensive, Alesund was instrumental is helping NiP amass their famous 87-0 LAN run while CS:GO was still in its infancy.
