Gaimin Gladiators are the Lima Major 2023 champions, but it has come to light that the Western European team did not receive the trophy yet
Despite emerging victorious in The Lima Major 2023, the Gaimin Gladiators team is yet to receive their well-deserved trophy. The correspondence between the DPC WEU outfit's representatives and 4D Esports, the Lima Major organizer, brought this matter to light.
4D Esports operation manager Luis Cuadros, popularly known as Imperius, recently turned to his official Facebook page, urging his followers to display their winnings following PSG's 2-0 victory over GG in DreamLeague Season 20. The response from Gaimin Gladiator’s Facebook profile manager, however, triggered a controversy.
The comment read, “We won a trophy, but it hasn't arrived yet.” This remark hints at the previous agreement made by 4D Sports to send Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp and company a replacement trophy after the first one, received after the Lima Major Grand Final series between Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid, broke within seconds of being presented. 4D Sports later exclaimed that the initial trophy was merely a symbolic gesture and not the actual trophy. The real trophy was still being manufactured and was scheduled to be sent to Gaimin Gladiators soon.
This recent incident joins a string of controversies surrounding 4D Sports, including allegations from a South American team who claim that they have not received their prize money from the organization for months.
The Lima Major 2023 witnessed Gaimin Gladiators' triumphant journey as they swept Team Liquid, 3-0, in the best-of-5 grand final series at Arena 1 in the Peruvian capital city of Lima. The DPC WEU giants’ flawless performance throughout the playoffs led them to the coveted championship title, which came with a lucrative reward package of $200,000 USD and 400 DPC points.
