Fortnite x Gears of War: How To Unlock Marcus Fenix, Kait Diaz & Free Spray

Fortnite's collection of playable characters adds two from the Epic Games' Gears of War franchise.

The popular Battle Royale title and its developers have become notorious for line-blurring collaborations. Epic Games created Fornite’s in-game Gaming Legends Series some time ago, which now includes Street Fighter's Chin-Li and Ryu, Halo's Master Chief, God of War's Kratos, and, recently, League of Legends' Jinx. Now, another pair of gaming legends join the list.

Gears of War characters Marcus Fenix and Kait Diaz have the duty of representing their iconic franchise in Fortnite, which begins today. It's a historic moment as the Gaming Legend Series becomes more impressive.

How to Unlock Marcus Fenix & Kait Diaz

Appearing under the Delta-One Set, series standouts Marcus Fenix and Kait Diaz enter Fortnite's Item Shop this evening at 7 PM EST. Marcus—a grizzled veteran of the COG Army—debuted in the series first installment and every sequel since. On the other side, Kait Diaz first appeared in Gears of War 4 before starring in Gears of War 5.

Both characters bring violence that could rival Kratos and fire-power like Master Chief. However, these are the only two to wield an Assault Rifle with a chainsaw attached. Marcus Fenix and Kait Diaz bring a slew of cosmetics from the Gears universe into Fortnite Battle Royale.

Here's the list of cosmetics included in the Delta-One Set:

• Marcus Fenix
• Kait Diaz with Winter Orange Style
• Sonic Resonator Back Bling (sold with the Marcus Fenix Outfit) – Created by the Coalition of Ordered Governments to map the underground tunnels of Sera.
• Reyna's Pendant Back Bling (sold with the Kait Diaz Outfit) – Family heirloom with mysterious origins.
• Breaker Mace Pickaxe – Locust Shell fragments affixed to a motorized rotating rod.
• Thumper Pickaxe – Previously used to call Seeders to the surface.
• Butcher Cleaver Pickaxe – Originally made for cutting Rockworm meat and also cutting down the COG.
• Skiff Glider – Take in the elements with this fast, wind-powered, land vehicle (turned Glider).
• Knife Tricks Emote
• Emergence Hole Spray

What's more, Fortnite players on an Xbox Series X will unlock a Matte Black style for Marcus Fenix.

Delta-One Quests

As if all that excitement wasn't enough, Epic Games has created a list of quests. Those who complete five challenges from December 9 at 9 AM to December 17 at 9 AM earn themselves the Crimson Omen Spray for free.

Here's the complete list of challenges:

• Collect Three COG Tags
• Crouch Behind Barrier
• Damage Opponent with Melee Attack
• Do Shotgun Damage to an Opponent
• Collect Thrashball Memorabilia

Marcus Fenix and Kait Diaz will be available to purchase in Fortnite’s Item Shop at 7 PM EST this evening. The Delta-One Quests also begin today, so if you’re not interested in the Gears of War set, a free Crimson Omen Spray is a consolation prize.
