Fortnite x Gears of War Collaboration Confirmed

It was only a matter of time before Marcus Fenix of Gears of War fame entered the Fortnite Battle Royale universe.

The iconic Epic Games-developed gritty third-person shooter known best for its violence has been around since 2006. For more than a decade, the COG forces have battled the Locusts to control the post-apocalyptic world. Alongside Unreal Tournament, the Gears of War franchise is one of Epic Games’ most significant series.

Marcus Fenix and Kait Diaz from the Gears universe will officially become playable characters in Fortnite Chapter 3. They join the likes of Lara Croft, Master Chief and Kratos, all of which have dropped into the world of Fortnite.

Fortnite x Gears of War Collaboration

The Gears crossover is one we called for back in Chapter 2 – Season 5, and it will arrive at some point in the next few weeks. Chapter 3 Season 1’s trailer showcased the in-game models of Marcus Fenix and Kait Diaz as they appeared in Gears of War 5. It’s unclear when the two characters will be available to purchase from the Item Shop. However, several leakers in the Fortnite scene learned of Gears Quest Lines, meaning there might be multiple styles.

Gears of War cosmetics beyond Marcus Fenix and Kait Diaz are unknown this early in the going. Nonetheless, it’s a historical moment for Fortnite as the game brings more characters from the other universes to the Island.
