Fortnite: How To Slide In Chapter 3

ESTNN explains everything you need to know about Fortnite’s new sliding mechanic.

Epic Games revealed Fortnite Chapter 3 in its entirety this morning following the Chapter 2 Finale and scheduled downtime. Waiting on the other side was the most significant update since Chapter 1’s conclusion created Chapter 2. Epic Games made a completely new map, equipped with new and old locations, new weapons and mechanics.

One new mechanic — sliding — leaked several weeks back. While no one knew what to expect, teasers and trailers leading into Chapter 3 clearly showed that sliding would be featured in the gameplay.

Today, ESTNN explains how the sliding mechanic works and how you can optimize it to earn Victory Royales in Chapter 3.

How to Slide in Chapter 3

Sliding is as simple as it can be in Fortnite Chapter 3. To execute a slide, you must hold the crouch button while running. That will put your character into the sliding animation. You can also slide quicker down an incline, like a steep hill. Another tidbit to remember is that you can still shoot your weapon while sliding. This tactic could help evade enemy fire and would reward accuracy immensely.

Surprisingly, sliding had never been a feature in Fortnite Battle Royale. It may take some time to learn all the ins and outs of the mechanic. However, it seems that sliding could be a valuable skill to master from the early going as the Chapter 3 meta develops. There will undoubtedly be some exciting ways to utilize the slide.
