Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 – Complete Guide
New Mobility (Or Lack of) – Raptors
One feature that’s been rumoured in Fortnite leaks for quite a while has finally come into the game. Raptors! There are now little dinos roaming all over the map. You can freely roleplay your Jurassic Park fantasies in safety in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3. The dinos aren’t just wildlife, they’re rideable and one of the biggest sources of mobility on the new map.
Raptors aren’t freely walking around the map fully grown. They’re actually spawning in as Dino eggs. You’ll have to interact with them to gain a Raptor. These are great for traversing the new more uneven map, which brings us to one of Epic’s biggest problems in Chapter 4, mobility.
The game has lost the Katana, the Spiderwebs, and the Fortnite ODM Gear. We’ve only got Dinos and cars, shockwaves or anything else has been added. At the moment, this is making the game hard to traverse, especially in Zero Builds. Be aware of this as you’re rotating, it’s much easier to get caught in the storm this season.
Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 Weapons Guide
Weapons have received a refresh with the latest season! One of the top guns in the game is gone, but we’ve got some pretty fun replacements. These are the brand-new weapons this season.
This is a big one, at least if you want to make the most of all the high ground in the new biome! This is the classic DMR, the long-range rifle that’s a bit more forgiving than a Sniper. Now it's thermal. When you look down the scope in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3, you’ll see all enemies in red, making aiming much easier. Be aware that players covered in mud don’t show up, so you can still miss someone.
It doesn’t actually shoot flapjacks, but this is a new Mythic. It’s a new rifle that fires spinning Magazines. It’s a bit of a unique gun to get added. It’s also the new mythic located in the Fortnite Vaults you’ll find taking down high ground.
This is a fun one that we spotted in early promotional materials. This is a boomerang. Throw it out at enemies, and you can recall it back to you. Once you trigger the recoil manually it’ll explode! This gives you a few chances to get damage in compared to a normal gun.
This is one of the craziest-looking weapons we’ve seen for quite a while, a gigantic Cannon! It’s a gun that fires slowly but launches huge explosive energy balls! Great for firing at enemies in builds or those who want to damage everyone on a team!
This is back! It isn’t a brand-new weapon. However, it is back in a new Mythic form replacing the old Havoc Pump. You don’t get the same high damage on a headshot that you did there. However, if you’re capable with aim the speedy fire rate here won’t stop you from getting up close kills.
You can now throw a jar of bees at players. Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 has definitely taken a fun approach to weapon design this time. It’s a jar that you can gather wildwasps in. Throw them at enemies to have them attack. You can remove the hoard on you by getting in water or mud.
This is also back this season! SMGs have been killing in recent seasons, but this one is less immediately OP than some past ones.
New Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 Mechanics – Mud
It might just be a new season but Epic’s brought in new mechanics. There’s now mud in the game. That’s not just a new area and texture on the ground. It’s actually a feature which has in-game properties.
If you spot a muddy area, you can slide through it. This will get your skin mudding, adding a bit of camouflage You also slide quicker so there’s a bit of a speed boost here.
Most of the game’s mobility is gone, but there are a few new features like vines. These are a replacement for grind rails. Players can ride the vines in a similar way. It’s a different look here, but it is basically just more of the grind rails from last season.
New Biome – The Jungle in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3
The new map change for the season is continuing Epic’s recent trend, it’s added a new biome. They’ve made next to no changes outside of this new addition, so utterly underpowered areas like the Citadel and Slabs still haven’t gotten fixed. They are now closer to a really unique area though, the Jungle.
This is new biome that’s been added in the northeast of the map. It’s stretching over where Anvil Square used to be and up through the ice biome. It’s an area that is situated lower than the rest of the map. You have to descend a pretty big cliff to get down there.
It’s a fun biome featuring mud and the other new mechanics like vines. In terms of how it plays though, there are some key things to keep in mind. The area is surrounded by natural high ground, which isn’t too easy to climb up everywhere. In Zero Builds, you’re going to need to be very careful heading down here in the late game. Players up top have an easy shot at you, even with the new fauna and canopies.
Flowers with a Bite
The new area has some new growing flowers which have some in-game uses.
There are bomb flowers, straight out of Tears of the Kingdom, that explode when shot.
There are stink flowers will launch the toxic gas we’ve seen before. Then, there are slurp plants which give a bit of shield. The last interesting one is hop flowers but they aren’t consumable, you can jump on these to bounce.
New Augments in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3
Last season the Fortnite Augments got into a pretty bad state. There are some new ones this season though which might bring a bit more fun back to them! These are our new reality augments.
- Primal Companion – Get thermal vision and regenerate health while on animals.
- Wildwasp Weaponry – Get wildwasp jars on every elim
- Sprint Lines – Get a slap effect on ziplines, rails, vines, and ascenders
- Shell Slide – Get shotgun shells when sliding
- Swift Shotgun Reload – Faster shotgun reload
- Reckless Rifle Reload – ARs will reload much faster when the magazine is empty.
- Medium Ammo Acquired – Get medium ammo and find some in all loot containers.
Get a Job in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3
Bounty boards have been here for a while but they’ve finally had an expansion this season, turning into job boards. You can now take a job if you want some extra goals in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3. These include the traditional bounties, if you prefer hunting people down.
Obviously Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 has a full new Battle Pass! That won’t have the most effect on gameplay, but if you want to get Optimus Prime in Fortnite you can now do that!
A more minor change, Epic has renamed harvesting Tools Pickaxes1 It's nice that they’ve finally caught up with everyone who plays Fortnite.
Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 Competitive
The competitive side of the game has a few changes and differences from the base in this season. As usual, a lot of the new features aren’t going to be in Fortnite esports immediately. These items won’t be in tournaments right now.
- Cybertron Cannon
- Heavy Sniper Rifle
- Chug Cannon
- Heisted Breacher Shotgun
That’s everything that’s changed in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3! It’s a decently sized update, but a few of the new features might be a bit weird once we’ve all settled in. The new biome has a fun structure with its lower and high ground but it could prove frustrating with some storm circles. We’ll have to jump in and see how it all actually plays.
