Location, rewards, and abilities
As we have already mentioned in the introduction of this article, you will meet the boss Infernal Eikon during the main quest “Buried Memories”, which takes place in the Phoenix Gate Ruins, in the Grand Duchy of Rosaria region. As a reward for defeating this fearsome boss, players will receive 450 XP, 180 AP, and 3200 Gil, all very useful resources to be able to upgrade Clive and therefore continue with the rest of the game more easily. Additionally, items such as Magicked Ash and Fire Shard will also be acquired which are sure to prove useful in later battles.
However, it is very important to keep in mind that the boss Infernal Eikon must not be taken lightly. This very powerful boss can create problems for anyone who crosses his path, so it is of fundamental importance to have an efficient and effective strategic plan that is able to lead you to victory. Finally, it should be remembered that the boss Infernal Eikon has some special abilities that he will use during the battle, such as Crimson Rush, Vulcan Burst, and Scorched Earth.
How to defeat Infernal Eikon
Even the boss Infernal Eikon, like others we have already talked about, has the head as its vital and weak point and it is therefore very important to aim at this specific point to inflict the greatest amount of damage possible. Obviously, reaching his head won't be child's play due to his enormous stature, but there are some tricks to be able to achieve this. For this, we advise you to use the Eikonic Feats such as Deadly Embrace, or make use of specific skills such as Wicked Wheel, which allows you to stand up from the ground to be able to reach his head and then hit him inflicting a greater amount of damage.
During your fight, there will be times when you'll be able to stagger the boss. In this case, we recommend using Deadly Embrace to be able to attack his vital point. Also, if you have the Gouge ability unlocked, we recommend that you use it since it allows you to launch multiple attacks, and then change form into the Phoenix Eikon to use the Rising Flames ability, which always turns out to be one of the most effective skills against encounters with enemies of this magnitude.
Finally, once you find yourself in the final stages of the battle and therefore with the dying Infernal Eikon, there will be a Quick Time Event (QTE) that you must successfully complete in order to inflict the final blow on the boss and end a complex battle that needed a precise strategy to be completed.
Infernal Eikon's abilities
As we said at the beginning of this article, the boss Infernal Eikon has some special abilities that he will use during the battle, one of which is Crimson Rush which he will use often. This skill allows the boss to move in the direction of your position, throwing fireballs at you or wagging his tail if you are behind him. The strategy we propose to adopt is to initially use ranged attacks, at least until you have the opportunity to launch melee attacks in complete tranquillity. If you're having trouble dodging fireballs and Crimson Rush, you might want to consider equipping the Ring of Timely Evasion, which will help you dodge the boss's attacks.
Another skill we recommend keeping an eye out for is Volcanic Burst. Once the boss has used this ability, he will need a cooldown period before he can use it again, in addition to the Infernal Eikon remaining on the ground to recover his strength. This is therefore the most suitable time to get to his head using Deadly Embrace or Wicked Wheel. This way, you'll be able to deal more damage to the boss before he recovers from using his ability. Finally, it is also possible to use the Stomp ability to extend the time in the air and therefore be able to land more attacks.
