Dota 2: Winstrike Releases its Roster and Signs a New One

Winstrike have done it again.

The CIS Dota 2 scene is surrounded by drama for the last month or so. During that time, teams such as Virtus.Pro, Natus Vince and Gambit Esports, all had their issues.

However, now that they’ve all settled down, one new team from this region is on the rise and that’s Winstrike. We are sad to announce the CIS team disbanded it’s entire Dota 2 roster after just a few months with it. However, they won’t be quitting the Dota 2 scene. Instead, Winstrike decided to acquire a newly formed squad called Modus Unity.

History repeats itself

You might have forgotten, but this team did nearly the same just a few months ago. After the end of TI 9, Winstrike acquired VP’s coach Arsenij “ArsZeeqq” Usov, who built a new team that was supposedly going to compete at the highest levels of professional Dota 2.

However, this never actually happened. Just a few months and with no significant accomplishments, Winstrike decided to make a switch once more.

According to Andrej Kvasnevskij, Winstrike's Sporting Director, “There is only one word to describe our recent performance – awful”, referring to the teams’ dreadful results in the Los Angeles Major qualifiers.

What now?

Following the changes, the following players are now without an organization to back them up:

  • Alik “V-Tune” Vorobey
  • Andrey “Afroninje” Afonin
  • Vasily “AfterLife” Shishkin
  • Ilya “ALOHADANCE” Korobkin
  • Vladimir “RodjER” Nikogosyan

Winstrike’s new roster is going to be the recently-formed team known as Modus Unity. Despite the fact that they couldn’t qualify for either of the upcoming DPC events, this team has shown a lot of potentials, which is why Winstrike decided to give them a chance.

Kvasnevskij has said in the official release that he has high hopes for the young players; “We are ready to give them more than one chance so that the guys will have time to prove themselves”.

Here's Winstrike's new roster:

  • Stanislav Yarosevich
  • Nikit “Young G” Bochko
  • Vladislav “DKFogas” Frolov
  • Sergey “[T]SA” Timchenko
  • Dmitrii “kickeed” Pilyayev
