Dota 2 players will breathe a sigh of relief with new updates being aimed at shortening queue times.
Dota 2’s matchmaking has been under the radar for some time now. Valve released a couple of updates aiming to improve the quality of life in the matchmaking space and so far they seem pretty good. However, one thing is still unsolved — the long matchmaking queues.
Having said that, the latest minor update aims at fixing it.

The longer times in ranked queues became a thing after the Ranked Roles were introduced. In other words, players that only want to play carry or mid have to wait a long, long time. On the contrary, Hard Supports usually have a pretty fast queue time.
Fast Queue aims at fixing the ranked matchmaking waiting. The players who select all roles will be put in this new queue, allowing them to find matches faster. If you play in a party, you will be in the Fast Queue if each party member fills in every single role.
The cool thing is that you will earn a bonus slot for Fast Queue which you can use later on. The maximum amount of bonus queues is 60, which is not a bad number at all.
According to Valve, players choosing roles without any additional constraints simply doesn’t result in enough role diversity for the matchmaking population to be healthy, negatively affecting both queue times and match quality. Fast Queue aims at fixing these issues.

In addition to this small update, Valve has more plans. They will roll-out small updates to the behavior score and the report system soon. In the meantime, be sure to watch the upcoming Dota Summit 11, the first Minor of this DPC.
