Dota 2: Top Four Heroes to Gain MMR With in 2020

Here are some of the best heroes to boost your MMR.

We are nearly four months into 2020 and oh boy, this year is already crazy. Currently, the entire world is fighting against the COVID-10 pandemic that is slowly but steadily increasing in pretty much every country.

Now that a large portion of the world is under quarantine, there are more people playing video games than ever before. So, if you’re a Dota 2 fan, chances are that you’re going to try and make the most of your “lockdown” and get some MMR. If that’s the case, here are a couple of heroes that you can use to try make your job easier.

Keep it in mind that the data in this article is update as of March 2020.

Lycan

This hero might come as a surprise to some people out there. However, after patch 7.25a landed, Lycan has established itself as one of the strongest heroes in the meta. In fact, he currently has a nearly 61% win rating in the highest MMR bracket (Divine and Immortal).

The newest patch in Dota 2 introduced two buffs to the hero. The first one is about Feral Impulse and the HP regen you get from it. Now, it provides one additional HP regen on all levels, which might not seem as much but it has a great effect during the laning stage. Lycan was already hard to harras as he was, so this makes him even tankier.

However, the change that definitely made an impact on this hero is the one on Shapeshift. Instead of 18 seconds, the spell now lasts as a total of 22 seconds, which is just insane. These four seconds extra can make all the difference in the world, especially during the later stages of the game.

Spamming Lycan right now is perhaps one of the best things you can do if you want MMR. Sure, he is not the easiest hero in the world but once you learn how to play, you will have a walk in the park.

Meepo

The second hero that definitely has to be on this list is Meepo. Unfortunately, the biggest problem with this little fella is that he is extremely hard to master. Unlike any other hero in Dota 2, Meepo requires you to have a perfect unit control, which is definitely easier said than done.

Nevertheless, if you learn how to play with him, he is one of the fastest and most efficient ways to get some MMR. Having said that, you need to remember that you have to pick him only when that’s suitable. In other words, do not first-pick Meepo because there is a pretty good chance that you won’t win. However, if you last pick him, you will probably be able to win the game in under 30 minutes.

Even though patch 7.25a nerfed this hero a little bit, he still continues to be one of the most dominant pub heroes. In fact, he has the highest win rate in every bracket, apart from the Divine-Immortal one. There, he is currently taking second place after Lycan.

We strongly suggest you to learn how to play Meepo if you want to get as much MMR as possible. Sure, it will be a long and painful process but the end result is definitely worth it.

Visage

Up next, we have another hero which has a pretty high skill cap. Visage used to be a very popular pick many years ago when we first saw the Drow Strat combo. However, as it was nerfed numerous times, the hero slowly faded away from the meta. Now, after the buffs in 7.25, it seems like he is back yet again.

Visage now has 110 base attack speed, and his Soul Assumption has more radius and cast range. Also, his level 25 talent now provides +6 Gravekeeper’s Cloak Stacks instead of 2. As a result, the hero is now a lot tankier and does more damage overall.

Despite the changes, the overall gameplay of the hero hasn’t really changed all that much. He is still a mid laner that tends to rush a Helm of the Dominator and then uses his minions to do tons of damage and push towers.

Unfortunately, the biggest problem with Visage is that he is just hard to play. Even though he is not as complex as Meepo, he's still a hero that you have to practice with a lot before you can make the most out of him.

Bane

Last, but most definitely not least, we have one support hero that’s back yet again. Bane was one of the instant picks a couple of years ago mainly due to his abilities to keep enemies in place. He was often picked alongside heroes such as Mirana, and their job was to secure kills early on.

Sadly, this changes after a few updates and Bane was pretty much forgotten. Nevertheless, it seems like the current meta is favoring the hero once again, judging by the numbers. This hero currently has over 56% win rating in the highest MMR bracket, which means that he is the fourth most successful hero there.

As we’ve mentioned above, these are some of the hottest heroes right now. However, this might change in the future, especially when the new updates kick in. That’s why it’s important that you always check who the hottest and strongest heroes are in Dota 2. There are plenty of websites that let you do this, we use DotaBuff.
