Here are some of the best items for Lycan.
The current Dota 2 meta favors the heroes that love to push towers. Needless to say, one of those heroes is Lycan. In fact, this is by far the most trendy meta core hero right now. Lycan is thriving in almost every MMR bracket, although the hero is not that easy to play with.
Apart from the fact that the ultimate is just too strong, Lycan is also capable of farming really fast. That’s another reason why he just excels in the current meta. Nonetheless, the hero wouldn’t have been so successful if people didn’t buy the right items.
So, without further ado, here are some of the best items that you can get for Lycan right now.
This is without a doubt the most popular item that you can get for Lycan. What’s interesting about Necronomicon is that it consists of three levels. What this means is that you can get the first one really early on, and use the minions to push the tower or chase someone.
However, the fun with this item really starts whenever you upgrade it to level 3. Once that happens and you buff everyone with Howl, you and your minions will do so much damage that you can literally kill any hero on the map in just a couple of seconds.
That said, getting this item to level 3 is a little bit expensive, so keep that in mind. However, if you manage to get some early kills, you can get it pretty early on, which will make you the strongest hero in the game.
Helm of the Dominator
The second item that’s really popular for Lycan is Hel of the Dominator. It is fairly inexpensive, which means that you can get early on. As a result, you will be able to push even faster, especially if you get a good neutral creep.
Apart from giving you control over a unit, this item also provides decent stats. Needless to say, this is always a plus.
This is one of the strongest items in Dota 2, although many people tend to underestimate it. During the later stages of the game, armor becomes the most desired stat because it reduces a lot of the incoming damage.
Apart from the fact that it gives a lot of armor, this item also reduces the armor of the enemy units. This means that Lycan will do even more damage, especially while he is under the effect of his ult.
Of course, let’s also not forget about the attack speed. Having more AS means that you will do more damage in the end because your attacks will be more frequent.
Assault Cuirass is a pretty expensive item, which is why most Lycan players tend to buy it later on in the game.
Black King Bar
This is an item that every core hero buys, especially when there are a lot of magical damage dealers. Black King Bar gives every hero the power to become immune to magical damage for a certain period of time. This will should give Lycan enough time to kill at least one opponent, which will give his team a solid chance to win the team fight.
What’s even more interesting with Lycan is the fact that the hero has strength as his main stat. So, he benefits even more from the Black King Bar because he gets extra damage.
This is an incredible team to do damage with, especially in the mid-game. Unlike some of the other damaged items in Dota 2, this one is fairly inexpensive, which means that Lycan can buy it pretty early on.
Apart from the fact that he will be able to kill the enemy heroes really fast, Desolator will also give them the chance to push the enemy base even faster. After all, it does reduce the armor of each target by six, which is a pretty substantial amount.
Skull Basher/Abyssal Blade
These two items are usually going hand to hand for most melee heroes because they are just amazing. Apart from providing loads of damage, Lycan also has the power to stun his enemies. Needless to say, this is enough to score a kill, especially later on in the game.
Having said that, Abyssal Blade tends to be pretty expensive, so it’s not really worth trying and by it straight away. Most people prefer to get a Skull Basher and then upgrade the item later on.
This is one of the best items that you can get whenever you want to start pushing from the very beginning. Apart from the fact that it’s not that expensive, Vladimir's also provides a massive lifesteal percentage, which can do wonders in some situations.
However, sometimes, it might be better to ask your offlaner to get this item. Although it also provides decent stats, in most cases, it’s just not worth spending that gold because you can get a more damage-focused item instead.
