Dota 2: Team Secret Wins ESL One Birmingham Online

Although some people didn’t believe they could do it, Team Secret has done it again.

If anyone had any doubts about whether Team Secret is the best team in the world, the latest performance from the European powerhouse probably gave away the answer. Although Alliance is an incredible team, they had no chance against Clement “Puppey” Ivanov and his team.

What happened?

ESL One Birmingham Online Europe & CIS brought together some of the best teams in both regions. Although there were some pretty interesting series, two teams stood out from the rest – Alliance and Team Secret.

In fact, Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov and co. were the ones that send TS to the lower bracket. Although this was a clear sign of their intentions, Team Secret had other plans. After ripping through the competition in the lower bracket, they went head to head with their executors in an attempt to get revenge.

The first two games of the series were completely one-sided. Although Alliance picked some petty good heroes, the strange picks from Team Secret caught them off-guard. We got to see a mid-lane Nature’s Prophet, something that turned out to be really successful.

Even though the second game was a bit closer, Alliance couldn’t take the victory. They had a solid start, but in the end, Team Secret’s Meepo pick turned out to be way too strong and he carried the team to a 2-0 lead.

The last game of the series also went in favor of Team Secret, however, Alliance played way better.  Although Linus “Limmp” Blomdin was pressured once again, his teammates managed to help him out. As a result, Team Secret’s pressure was not nearly as intense as it was in the previous two games. However, even this was not enough to prevent Alliance from losing.

Once Lasse Aukusti “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen got enough farm, he became the most dangerous player on the map with his Ursa. Needless to say, a well-farmed Ursa is just too strong to deal with as Nikobaby’s squad had no answer to his aggression. After yet another team fight went in favor of Secret, Alliance had no other choice but to call GG.

Following Team Secret’s success, this became the fourth event they won in a row. This is a clear sign that Puppey’s squad is perhaps the best team in the world right now.
